I have not said it in a while, so I have to say it again:

is a wonderful piece of software. Even with only local connections and all the automatic finding things disabled it works like a charm and I can keep a family's count of devices in sync, get local backups from phones, send MP3 files across devices and sync password manager files that I do not want to see in the cloud.

Hey bubble,

my wife needs to work with the instagram app for work (yes, I know, but it is that way). So we installed it in a work profile on her android phone (to keep the data in the normal profile safe from the app). The phone is running perfectly fine.

Unfortunately, she cannot access the pictures on the normal profile from the instagram app. File shuttle is enabled in shelter and works in the files app, but apparently not from the instagram app. At least we find no way to access the files.

Has anyone done this before? Any hints, tips or tricks?

Die global timeline in meiner Mastodon App wirkt auf mich ernüchternd. Ich lese dort zum Großteil Beiträge einer Art, wegen denen ich Facebook und Twitter verlassen habe. 😞

Ich werde diese timeline zukünftig meiden, um nicht wieder dem Doomscrolling zu verfallen.

Anyone else experiencing issues with #davx5 on #grapheneos lately? I am syncing with a nextcloud and have some errors every day. Something regarding "local transaction failed", buffer space etc.
Other devices syncing from the same network against the same nextcloud seem fine...

My blog is running with , and I have a script which runs as pre-commit and checks all files.

Things like:

  • certain keywords are cursive
  • certain tags exist, based on content
  • invalid links
  • http links
  • code blocks are marked
  • preview image exists
  • preview text exists
  • ... some more

Is this something other people are interested in? Then I make the script configurable, and more formal.

I enabled some stuff in my personal . Pretty cool to watch it analyze my home videos and family pictures. It's a lot less creepy when you're analyzing your own stuff on your own hardware.

When my Linux machines are able to send me a mail when needed, for example when the automatic backup fails.

Things I hate:

Configuring my Linux machines to send emails to my regular Inbox, because it's painful.

I picked the wrong word, relayhost might have been a better choice. In my case, the local postfix sends mail via the mail provider's server via SMTP.

Something like this:
relayhost = [smtp.mailbox.org]

@knurd42 I wrote myself a Ansible role several years ago that I use on all of my servers to configure postfix.

For RHEL and clones there is one in the rhel-system-roles, maintained by RedHat IIRC:

IIRC it uses this for myuser, myuser@localhost, myuser@localhost.localdomain and myuser@my-real-fqdn etc.

Hey bubble, my T450s does no longer show anything after powering it on. I see the power button LED lighten up, hear the fan start to turn, but the screen stays black. I cannot change the keyboard light using Fn+SPACE. I also do not get any connection to external monitors (using miniDP).

I already replaced the display, but unfortunately the behaviour is still the same. So my guess would be that either the mainboard is dead or something else is broken.

Any ideas what I can try before throwing it in the trash (of course I'll recycle it, figure of speech...)?

I just removed the RAM, but it does not beep to complain that the RAM is missing.

Now removing the BIOS battery...
