(Apologies to everyone who, like me, realizes they overused used "eye/s" in their work)

"And if you want my help, we need some ground rules."

Rocky rolls his eyes. "Rules? Whose time machine is it?"

"Your father's, Rocky."

He folds his arms, turning away.

#TimeTravelAuthors May 9 Who does your MC care about most?

In the beginning, Jules cares most about Philippa, his lost sister, because she needs him the most.
And tbh, Vera cares most about herself in the beginning, then Nolene, then Barb.

Things do change, though.

I'm so crazy busy these days and unable to keep up with all my beloved hashtags - so please don't be mad if I post a day or two late (or not at all, but I guess that wouldn't be an issue for anyone but me 😅).

juliebihn,
@juliebihn@mastodon.social avatar

@anderlandbooks If you post late on a time travel hashtag, is it even late? Or are you just time traveling? 🤔 (Take care of yourself!)

Apr 29: Author's Choice

I'm nowhere near to publishing, but I'm thinking about using this as a cover. Thoughts?

juliebihn,
@juliebihn@mastodon.social avatar

@anderlandbooks Looks romantic, and I like the concept! I'd definitely play with fonts--ideally, you could read it in a thumbnail, and I think the author/subtitle font looks dated, like I think that font came with my mom's old Mac back AGES ago. (Which in fairness, time travel, but I'd go for something a little different.)

It's that time of month again, #TimeTravelAuthors, and I'm once again asking for you to look over next month's proposed prompts. (Thanks so much for answering prompt questions so faithfully!)

juliebihn, to random
@juliebihn@mastodon.social avatar

I tried to make Titanic Voyage as historially accurate as possible. Clara encounters lookouts Lee and Fleet, as well as a poor doomed steward named Gilbert, who if I recall could have been one of two men. There are references to Dorothy Gibson, Bruce Ismay, Wallace Hartley, Thomas Andrews, and Captain Smith.

That said, I hate the idea of portraying a real person inaccurately, so my characters don't interact much with real people.

My idea for a time travel book that I started 1 year ago but I gave up 😒
Introduction.......
Corey an 18 year old kid is visited by his 60 year old self that tries to warn him of mistakes that he is going to make in his life. While Corey makes the changes suggested it changes more than he thought with horrific repercussions! Don't fw the future, or the future will fw you !!!!
What yall think?

juliebihn,
@juliebihn@mastodon.social avatar

@Jaden3 Sounds like a cool idea to me! At least one person has used the prompts to answer questions that helped them figure out a book they will write in the future :)

Mar 13 Do the hashtags inspire you?

For me, that's a big, fat YES.

Sometimes, they inspire new ideas. Sometimes, they make me reconsider things about my characters. Sometimes, they cause me to buy a book.
They are the reason I come here every day. Without the #, I'd still be so lost in the fediverse, searching for my crowd.

So, thank you, @floofpaldi , @AlinaLeonova , @johnhowesauthor
@juliebihn
@hthomsenwrites and all the others!

juliebihn,
@juliebihn@mastodon.social avatar

@anderlandbooks I'd honestly be also using Blue Sky if they had functional hashtags, but they don't, so yeah, I foundered there and then more or less gave up.

@anderlandbooks If you like historical fantasy romance with a hidden magic world that's not real heavy on magic rules, you might enjoy the Mages in the Mundane trilogy. I did! (The prequel is darker, though.) https://www.amazon.com/Reborn-Prince-Mages-Mundane-Book-ebook/dp/B09M7LLZ3Q

Saturday excerpt/optional word: family

“A problem? You think Vera’s gonna talk?” Jules wondered.
Cai shrugged.
“She seemed freaked enough to go run and tell somebody.”
“No one would believe her.”
“It would still attract attention, and we don’t want that.”
“I didn’t exactly plan on dying, you know?” He felt anger rising inside. Yes, he knew he caused trouble for his family, but this had not been his choice.
Too many times, it had not been his choice.

Jan 17 wednesday snippet (optional word: book)

When Jules woke, his bedside lamp was on, and his little brother sat in a chair next to it, reading.
He frowned.
There was also a bottle of water, and the queasiness of his stomach was gone.Thus, he rose on his elbow and grabbed the bottle.
Startled, Fabi let his book fall.
“You’re awake!”
“And you seem to be on babysitting duty,” Jules remarked dryly.
