I'm going to !!
It feels like a miracle (long story), and I may not believe it until I'm at the convention center.
It's my first pycon and I can't wait to be among all those

If you see me, please say hello, and if you don't see me, send me a DM and we'll rendezvous.

I typically carry business cards with me, but I came across another good tip recently at a conference. Use a LinkedIn QR code to connect on LinkedIn. Just in time for PyCon US. 🐍 https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a525286/using-a-linkedin-qr-code-to-connect-with-members?lang=en

Thank you to my friend Peter Hull for this rec. Good for a Sunday morning. Looking forward to trying Vanilla Nut or Butterscotch Toffee.

Cinco de Mayo at one of my favorite locals Mexican Sugar. Hamburguesa and Egg and a Classico Margarita. Made a new friend on the way home.

Two of the restaurants I ate at in Austin when I was there for PyTexas are featured in this "The 25 Best Restaurants in Austin" list: Franklin's BBQ and Cuantos Tacos. I had the brisket at both. Super yummy! More ideas for next time.🌮🌮🌮 https://www.nytimes.com/article/best-restaurants-austin.html

Over the last five months, travel, holidays, sickness, and death in the family sidetracked me from going to the gym. Yesterday was one day too many. Trying something new... going to the gym after work, using an elliptical like usual, adding weight lifting. Already feeling better.

A day of learning and fun celebrating May the 4th (early) at JPMorgan Chase Plano. Presentations, food, costume contest, and even Darth Vader cookies.

In two weeks, I'll be flying to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for PyCon US. The schedule looks incredible! I can't wait. So many things to learn, so many friends to see, so many new friends to make. 😍🐍 https://us.pycon.org/2024/schedule/

Another treasured conference photo to add to my collection, taken at PyTexas last weekend. Thank you to Jason Koo for inviting me to be in it. It is particularly special, because I am standing next to my incredible friend Carol Willing. She had given a must watch keynote that morning. https://katherinemichel.github.io/portfolio/favorite-conference-snapshots.html

As a conference organizer, I took note when I saw a post by AppSignal Co-founder Roy Tomeij about the trouble he goes to to ship stroopwafels from a Dutch factory to the US for conferences. I was lucky to come across some of these delicious treats recently at @pytexas and instantly recognized them! https://lnkd.in/gbRXm42W

After telling you all to sign up for PyCon US activities before they sell out I, Mariatta, PyCon US 2024 conference chair, also forgot to sign up for PyLadies Luncheon and now they're sold out 😭😭😭😭

@mariatta Oh shoot. I didn't know we had to sign up for that.

Looking at photos I took of the Texas Capitol and realizing there is some blatantly racist stuff there. The courtyard is literally a monument to the confederacy.

PyTexas was held in the gorgeous Austin Central Library, a tourist destination in its own rite. Here is a pic of the stunning rooftop garden with a view of the Austin skyline and Colorado River.

We are nearing the end of the DjangoCon US CfP. It closes April 24 at 12 pm EDT. A while back, I wrote up a list of possible talk topics, in case you need some inspiration. Whether you are new to public speaking or a seasoned veteran, we'd love to have your talk proposal! 📣 https://katherinemichel.github.io/portfolio/djangocon-us-2024-topics-inspiration-list.html

Can't believe it has already been a year since Stanford Engineering featured me in this article about its Code in Place Python course. Taking part as a student and section-leader was a life-changing experience, and it was an honor to be asked to talk about it. 🐍 ❤️ https://engineering.stanford.edu/magazine/stanford-engineering-offers-free-online-introductory-programming-course
