I am fairly diligent about making a list of people I meet at a conference. I had meaningful conversations with 139 people over four days at PyCon US, plus a few more people that probably didn't make it to my list in the mayhem.
@mahryekuh During the conference, just a email draft. I keep it open on my phone and between conversations, type people into a list. The pitfall is auto-correct. I do need to find a way to keep track of people long term. I am currently using LinkedIn and Google Sheets, but I've heard Airtable can be leveraged well.
@blaise@hynek I talked to him for the second time at PyCon US. He remembered that he met me five years ago and introduced me to the new Python Release Manager. Mind blown. :)
After telling you all to sign up for PyCon US activities before they sell out I, Mariatta, PyCon US 2024 conference chair, also forgot to sign up for PyLadies Luncheon and now they're sold out 😭😭😭😭 #PyConUS#PyLadies
I'm going to #PyConUS2024 !!
It feels like a miracle (long story), and I may not believe it until I'm at the convention center.
It's my first pycon and I can't wait to be among all those #Pythonistas
If you see me, please say hello, and if you don't see me, send me a DM and we'll rendezvous.
In two weeks, I'll be flying to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for PyCon US. The schedule looks incredible! I can't wait. So many things to learn, so many friends to see, so many new friends to make. 😍🐍 https://us.pycon.org/2024/schedule/
My Uncle Edward died on Friday. A part of me never believed this day could happen, and I wished it never would. I'll say more later, but for now, he was a brilliant engineer and businessman and the best brother my mother could have ever asked for. https://www.livingstonfh.com/obituary/edward-a-markel
@CodenameTim Thank you. He had declined significantly after my aunt died two years ago, but it was still a shock. We will have to learn a new normal. Fortunately, mom and I were able to spend the weekend with my nieces. It brought a lot of comfort.
Is there a place in the eastern half of the US that:
➡️ Has great public schools
➡️ Has decent air quality
➡️ Has access to good healthcare
➡️ Has many sunny days
➡️ Does not have a huge population
➡️ Is affordable; housing and taxes
➡️ Is not conservative
Does this exist??
The Delaware school system is a dealbreaker for us and we’re trying to figure out what could be next.
Today, Facebook reminded me that I got to hang out with Python BDFL Guido van Rossum four years ago at PyCascades. That was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again sometime. Open source has been good to me. 🐍
