@massivelyop#EmbersAdrift mostly, since they're a small studio steadfastly doing their own thing. And interating. And really taking the community feedback to heart. I appreciate their passion and sticking with it.
And now just recently, #LegendsofAriaClassic. For much the same reason. I hope they're successful. Having more small players in the space is a nice thing!
@scopique A million years ago my high school chemistry teacher was also a cabinet maker. And he figurately looked just like this guy. So I would indeed vouch for this bundle.
@scopique@massivelyop They have gone all out for their monthly rewards this year celebrating their anniversary! I also like that it feels like their strategy for rewards like pets or mounts or skins has shifted from twitch drops to login rewards. Which I appreciate. I think I can be in and out of ESO in under 30 seconds if all Iโm doing is logging in for the daily reward.
I generally use 2 web browsers. Chrome for work, and Safari for personal. I like keeping bookmarks/history/passwords/etc separate.
Iโm going to switch to @arcinternet for the month of May for work stuff. Importing everything from Chrome was a breeze, and all the Chrome extensions I need work in Arc.
I will not switch my personal stuff from Safari, though. The iCloud-synced tabs, history, tab groups, Reading List, etc. are all part of my daily use, and canโt be replicated yet.
@jimmylittle@arcinternet Dunno if youโve tried firefox in a while, but it may be a good alternative. Iโve been using it both on ios and macos and stuff works pretty well. Itโs a far cry from the old days where stuff just didnโt work or rendered bizarrely.
@jimmylittle@arcinternet Ahh okay! Then please feel free to disregard. Iโve see. A lot of folks having been shying away from chrome because of privacy changes so I assumed that you fell in that category.
While Iโm all Apple for basically everything else, I havenโt worked up the courage to take the plunge into safari yet. Maybe Iโll take this convo as a good challenge to try!
sigh The #postgresql logical replication process that has been running for around 3 weeks failed upon completion last night.
ERROR: table copy could not finish transaction on publisher: FATAL: terminating connection due to idle-in-transaction timeout
SSL connection has been closed unexpectedly
Time for google I suppose and an email to our on-retainer postgres expert.
Moving billions of records from one database to another is a PITA yo.
@ascherbaum@argv_minus_one Yeah. Weโve got 1.5 billion records that weโre trying to move from one AWS RDS instance to another and the pub is v12 and the sub is v16. From what Iโve read having the pub be v12 limits us on the options and tooling we have at our disposal to reduce records to replicate.
FWIW I had created a user which is executing the replication and set the statement_timeout to 0. And I was wrong, I think this takes about 10 days to do.
@massivelyop So, this coupled with the BlizzCon announcement leads me to believe weโve moved into the โletโs look at all your stuff and figure out what to cutโ point of the acquisition cycle.
Every time I skip calling ahead for a pizza and go in to order in person I end up standing behind somebody who is just encountering the concept of pizza and is keen to explore the rich tapestry of options that pizza can encompass.
@wilhelm_arcturus This is 100% our local boutique donut shop. Youโve already stood in line for a few minutes waiting for the people in front of you to order. Why are you just now looking at the case for the first time.
โHmmโฆ.they all look so good! How fruity is the strawberry lemonade?โ
FML
If you canโt rattle off your order in under 15 seconds, then gtfo.
@scopique@wilhelm_arcturus I appreciate that lots of restaurants now have dedicated shelves for pickup orders, so you can happily skip standing by while someone digs for change to pay.
@scopique I use and like classnames (https://www.npmjs.com/package/classnames). IMO it gets you a good mixture of the two. You can define your styles in a common css file so thereโs one location for it. Then you can style your individual components using classnames and weave in any conditionals that may affect the rendering of the component. And you can push it classNames as a prop have a parent override the default styling of a child.
@skro@FibroJedi@massivelyop Hereโs a fun thought too. What if weโre so far from the Shire that we donโt hear about it until after the Scouring? Thatโd give us time to wander around all sorts of unheard places.
Then when it is time to sunset everything, we head back and assist in cleaning up the aftermath, doing more hobbit-y activities, and seeing everyone off to Gray Havens. What if the game ends with our characters sailing to the West as well?
Was talking to a neighbor today.. (I was going to say "an older lady" but she is probably younger than me!) & she asked me what she needed to do to prepare for the eclipse. She (or maybe her grown kids) had been seeing online that she should stock up on canned goods, water and flashlight batteries because it was going to cause some kind of disaster.
I hate the Internet some days. The funny thing is, the last eclipse wasn't that long ago so why do people fall for this nonsense?
Dear #worldofwarcraft folks, whatโs the best way to learn what I should be doing in M+โs? Iโm basically a solo player and healed one of my first M5 and M8s this morning but whilst healing I kept being told to โdeal with the spiritsโ and I had no idea what they were asking me to do. The healing was stressful enough. Iโm ilvl 453ish I think but donโt seem to be getting drops that improve this anywhere.
@massivelyop Everyone focused on #FFXIV and #WorldOfWarcraft, while #ElderScrollsOnline quietly produces high quality content on a consistent basis. Yeah the animations aren't the greatest, and the colors are washed out, but there's always good stories to be had, unique things to do, and content that (IMO) is worth the money paid.
Anyone have any good suggestions for rebinding keys system wide on #linux to behave like #macos? I'm so used to coding on a mac keyboard layout that attempting to do the same thing on linux has my brain and fingers all outta whack.
I've seen a few packages out there but am hoping for some real recommendations from all my fedi-friends.
@scopique Bah, good luck. Networking admin is my least favorite home sysadmin job.
I feel like we live in some kind of wifi dampening zone. We reset the wifi nodes nightly overnight, and thereโs still some mornings when working that I need to reset them because weโre getting dial-up speeds.
