There definitely needs to be a way to block an entire instance(or whatever they’re called, please let me know I’m new) my feed is flooded with post to communities on lemmynsfw
When you have the community up that you want to block, the “…” in the top-right corner brings up the option to block the community:https://i.imgur.com/meRVy2Z.png
The only tedious part is that you actually have to go to the community itself, but you get used to it 🙂
I hate that I can’t really do sativa. The mood boost is amazing, but I have to be super careful or I end up in Panicland.
I’m currently smoking some Bubba hybrid and, surprisingly, haven’t panicked once. I try to moderate my usage to get to a nice spot and then maintain it, but sometimes I go overboard.
I was recently talking to some friends about Lemmy and the whole Fediverse idea, as it seemed like a really cool part of the Internet. As I was talking about it, though, I realized how unusually friendly this whole place is, and I joked that I “surprisingly haven’t found any bigotry.”...
So far, I haven’t encountered anything super negative. Everyone on the instance I picked as my “home” has been extremely friendly. Because of that, I usually just check local activity.
I do, occasionally, check all instances. Even what I see is mostly friendly.
I have occasionally posted like, cat photos to social media trusting that identifying metadata is removed, since the mouth breathers that design things like smart phones put social security numbers and goddamn GPS data in every picture that’s taken. Does Lemmy strip that data out, or am I gonna have to blank that myself?
I’ll try to keep this short (haha good luck), but one thing I’ve noticed is a human tendency towards either looking at the negative aspects of the world/life and fixating on them, making them our primary focus, or looking for negatives....
So I’ve noticed that, in most cases, if you sort by “Top: Last 6 hours,” a lot of posts (obviously) won’t show up. This is mainly true for threads that don’t have many comments, updoots, or both....
I think people put entirely too much emphasis on the type of job someone has/how much they make, and not enough on whether or not what a person does makes them happy. There’s almost this sick obsession in the west with work....
Agreed! I tend to just introduce myself and the topics sort of pop up, with the, “so what do you do?” being asked by them later.
I feel kind of rude in a way, but I genuinely don’t care what someone’s job is. That’s just what they do to survive. I’m more interested in what they enjoy and what makes them feel alive.
Don’t get me wrong, bringing more visibility to the platform will always be good, but wanting to jump ship from e.g. Jerboa to a port of one of those proprietary apps (Boost, Sync, etc.) kinda defeats the point of using an open platform in the first place....

Is the term for sh.itjust.works users... SJWs?
Doesn’t seem like that acronym is used for anything important at the moment, I’m sure we can grab it.
Age old question:
Indica or sativa?...
Have you had any bad experiences with people on Lemmy?

Pointless intro post
Clearly, this is a mildly directionless community, but I wanted a place to post things that didn’t fit into other communities.
