Posts still not showing up on kbin… weird. But I can see it.

Are you on the 17 dev profile? If so, check the top where it shows “beta updates” and make sure you select 17.

So far, nothing noticeable, but it’s a bit more stable. I haven’t noticed the annoying iMessage keyboard issue, so that’s good!

https://i.imgur.com/LmZjmtF.jpg I think the build number is different from the last beta 3.

loaf,

Oh no, totally understandable. It’s strange for them to release two betas with the same number, so it’s confusing.

When I first joined ml, I made the mistake of pointing out that China was, regardless of their self-labeling, a communist country.

Whew. I had tons of people losing their minds on me, claiming I was a troll and that I was full of shit. I shared something similar to this, and they basically screamed “fake news” and downvoted.

Those guys are special. https://i.imgur.com/YXI88j9.jpg

You love to see it. So much better here than Reddit, community-wise. https://i.imgur.com/wyjZX4S.gif

shitjustdontwork. Three days have elapsed without updates to or from our community.

I mod a community here, and for the last three days posts made to that community have not been showing up outside of this instance. Specifically, I have an account on Lemmy World, and I can’t see any recent posts from the community I mod on that account....

Same issue here. I ended up creating an account on lemmy.world to see if any of my posts/comments are showing up there.

None have.

[Announcement] TheDude has upgraded the server from 0.18.0 to 0.18.1 RC

TheDude recently upgraded the server to the most recent version of Lemmy. You’ll notice significant improvements to the user interface, and hopefully the functionality is also improved. There is no official changelog yet because this version is not yet finalized, but I’ll link the GitHub releases page where it should...

How does this instance feel about this growing pact against federating with Meta? (fedipact.online)

Meta/Instagram launched a new product called Threads today (working title project92). It adds a new interface for creating text posts and replying to them, using your Instagram account. Of note, Meta has stated that Threads plans to support ActivityPub in the future, and allow federation with ActivityPub services. If you...

For me, being on the fediverse is an escape from big social. That’s the whole reason I’m here. Conversations are more organic, less restrictive, and generally better. Plus, it has an awesome DIY feel to it.

I don’t want to lose that to Meta’s insatiable hunger for data.

Well said, and same.

I’m pretty casual. I “microdose” it, taking a hit and waiting to see how it goes. Not enough, and I do more. I try to reach a certain feeling then maintain it. I tend to panic if I green out, so I take it slow.

And I mostly smoke indica, since sativa makes me freak out.

[Discussion] Should we defederate exploding-heads.com? (Closing arguments)

Exploding-heads.com is another instance on Lemmy where alt-right MAGA types tend to reside. Some people on this server want us to defederate from them immediately, some people want to save defederation as a last resort. They have 104 active users (more stats below)....

This may be an incredibly stupid question, but don’t we, as individual users, have the option to block/mute instances we don’t want to see content from?

If so, I think that it should be left to the individual, rather than the instance.

I don’t like what I’ve seen from them, or from lemmygrad, so I tend to just ignore it.

Edit: With Memmy (iOS app), you apparently can block communities now.

loaf,
@loaf@sh.itjust.works avatar

Ahh crap. Well hopefully in the future, that option to block an instance will be an option for users. I like the idea of users having control over the content they see, rather than it being decided by others.

But, since this isn’t an option available to us now, maybe defederating (if that’s what the majority wants) is the most viable option.

@TheDude What is the Deal with Lemmygrad and Are You Going to Block Other Instances for Personal Reasons? (sh.itjust.works)

EDIT: It seems that I have may have gotten the wrong impression about the community structure here from the @TheDude comment I listed below. It looks like this should have been posted to The Agora. I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond. Now I must go find fresh air and see if I can find this grass thing that I have...

I’m gonna park my car here for this.

Agreed. It’s much more freeing when you DGAF about the karma portion. And sometimes, having a ton of downvotes gets as much, or more, attention.

Anyway, the fediverse is… different lol
