Yup, I didn’t buy the Steam Deck to do 4K ray tracing at 120FPS. I bought it so I can pick up any Steam Deck Verified game and play it without relative issue. Being able to suspend the game immediately and just knowing things work beats fiddling with Windows on a handheld.
The new “Recall” feature really does look good on paper, but the taking in mind that it catalogues almost everything you do on your computer, it could turn out to be a privacy nightmare. “logging things you do in apps, tracking communications in live meetings, remembering all websites you’ve visited for research, and...
I mean … I saw that for some reason when I logged into Windows 11 yesterday it had the NBA score in the bottom left. Who the hell asked if I wanted that?
Went back to my Linux/Mint box as I rarely use my windows one but that pissed me right off.

Not really new but probably not that popular for everyone. It seems it was coined in 2010: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pattern. In the web dev space I was using it like 8-9 years ago, more or less.
I asked ChatGPT to explain it to me and it came up with this:
This description is discussing a theoretical concept where the universe is shaped like a donut, known as a “3-roid” or “3-tauroid”. In this model, moving through the universe is akin to navigating a 3D surface of a 4D object, similar to how a spaceship in a 2D video game wraps around when reaching the edge of the screen. The suggestion of characters with 4D movement abilities falling out of space and time is a speculative idea based on this theoretical framework.

I was gonna say this was on par for the modern Christianity as we know it. I don’t think death threats are very Christian either but it seems that’s been par for the course now.

It’s weird because most hate it. I remember when Michael Moore’s movie came out and even those in red states were gathering together to say that if we let this go on then we’re complicit!
Then I think I remember Fox News and the right-wing going on a blitz. “Death Panels” and shit
Look at this disinformation campaign. This is what pisses me off about this “both sides” bullshit. Also, whenever any comedian jerks themselves off about speaking the truth and being philosophers going off on woke when they shut their mouths about shit like this.
I think making the rich mingle with the normal people more would be beneficial. It’s harder to dehumanize the poor when you’ve met them. Can’t call them lazy or stupid and just not “wanting” it enough when you see them work as hard as you and not getting as far.
Although, I think the way things are it’ll never happen though. Nepo babies would dodge everything even if something like this were to occur.
You’re absolutely right. I was trying to get what I hoped was the salient point out of the person’s post.
I knew a few guys in Europe I think maybe Austrian or something where they came from lots of money but went to school with “others” and they seemed pretty well-adjusted. Although, they have a lot of the other advantages that you’ve listed as well.
Weren’t Republicans crying about HIPAA (fixed spelling, thanks!) and shit earlier when asked if they got vaccinations? You guys actually care about sensitive patient health data or what’s up?
I remember waiting at Spadina years ago and heard someone scream that phrase … and I think for the next year of work I biked. It was like Inception with that phrase. lol.
I moved to London UK afterwards and was amazed at how transit wasn’t just so much better but it was the primary mode of transport. A lot of people hate the tube but I just can’t be mad at it after living in Toronto. London has loads more people living in than Toronto for sure, but Toronto was just so bad. I often made a joke about how many transit lines we’ve added in London in a few years and that living in Toronto for the past five, we’ve actually removed one (Kennedy?).
