In a quest to master all sports, my (just) 3yr old has started to throw an (American) football. I'm impressed with the spin he's getting on it already.

I need a way to programatically purge fastly at the end of a deployment (Jenkins).

Anybody doing something like this?

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@hugovk Oh brilliant, thank you - I thought it might be that simple!

markwalker,

@damien Thanks - I forgot they'd have API docs - I just spend my time looking at the graphs!

One default issue/PR label I feel like new GitHub projects lack is one for project/internal "stuff" (e.g. upgrading some GitHub Action version; something that doesn't impact released code). What would you name such a label?

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@josh @brettcannon I'm with Josh on "chore"

I've picked that up from following conventional commits (which does have a github PR title linter)

They should be sanitising their database inputs rather than change the input data!

@peter sounds like the classic where someone retires and there's nobody left that can do their job. Some old code that everyone is now afraid to touch.

Forgive me for taking things seriously, but I'm watching Bullet Train.

They need to consider how fast 50km/h is as they showed the train at that speed & slowing fast before ploughing through a concrete wall & hundreds of meters more.

Oh and then the guy walking around with a Katana through his torso.

Bullet train doing 50km/h ploughing through a wall and down a hill, somehow.

I bought the smaller version of this driver kit from @pimoroni and it's been super handy. Every DIY job from flat pack furniture to electrical sockets I use it. https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/mahi-driver-kit-48-bit-driver-kit?variant=3095783047178

@coldclimate @pimoroni sounds a bit like my Halfords socket set. It'll do everything 😎

Django 5 by Example is available now.

This is the book I've been reviewing.

What Python debugger are you using? I know about IDE debuggers, like PyCharm and VSCode, and of course pdb. Then there's pudb, which is a super nice terminal ui. What others are out there?

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@davidism a mixture of print, logging and sentry

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@davidism and if you've decided to make a Django app for a side project then there's https://kolo.app/

This maybe the closest I get to today.

I have some SQL to craft later but not sure I'll find that at the zoo.

I'm also pondering a dev-only Django setup that uses django-sql-explorer to provide an interface to query production. We already use cloud-sql-proxy so it should just connect to localhost:3306 🤔

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

Been cobbling together this docker & django setup and neglected the networking.

I'm running cloud-sql-proxy on the host (my laptop). So I'd need docker to be able to access the host network to find port 3306. Using "host.docker.internal" fails a handshake 🤔

Hurrah. My new book is here. And it's as lovely as I'd hoped it would be 😁

Need to share it with the frontend/design people at work now.

Thanks to @elliotjaystocks for creating it and @carlton for sharing it 👏

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@carlton @elliotjaystocks well worth the wait though 😁

Just flicking through it is inspirational & taking me back to younger years when I had time for art & design and being creative.

markwalker,
@markwalker@fosstodon.org avatar

@carlton @elliotjaystocks I can start by consulting the book and being quite particular about the django-cms.org redesign 🥳
