Like many people, I had my Apple ID locked last night, and it was a big hassle trying to get it unlocked and working again.

One tip - when you go through all the rigmarole to get it going again, one thing that doesn't switch on by default is receiving iMessages or FaceTime calls via your Apple ID. So, like me, you will probably be missing messages until you reenable those in Settings. Also, if you send somebody a new iMessage it will default to your phone number which may not be what you want.

@jamesthomson @scottearle now I’m worried. I’m responsible for rolling out a new unified login process for our customers in a couple of weeks and I was already feeling nervous about screwing something up. At least we don’t have as many users as Apple!

A few episodes in to the Fallout TV show and it's somehow managing to be quite dull.

@nivrig I’ve only played one game (Fallout 4) but I love the whole world and premise. I wa sin the doldrums this afternoon when I finished the last episode, as I had no more to watch. I found it really compelling watching. The idea of waiting for more is like being tortured by a Mr Handy.

@nivrig I definitely have an affinity for Fallout 4, and post-apocalyptic stuff in general, but from reading about it after watching I think a lot of references were to games that I hadn’t played and I don’t think it impacted my enjoyment.

It seems the Mid-Credits and Post-Credits icons appear in Call Sheet when the film you are viewing in the app has credits scenes.

Argyle has a mid-credits scene but it’s not flagged in Call Sheet yet. Probably needs the source it’s pulling data from to be updated with that info.

This new trend of podcasts posting video clips reinforces for me that Americans talk too slowly and is going to be a problem. At least when I have them trapped in my podcast app I can make them speak at normal speed, but when they escape to video mediums it’s so much harder to bend them to my will.

Just finished The Light Fanstastic by Terry Pratchett.

I enjoyed it a lot, I’m not sure if there are more Rincewind books but whilst I enjoyed him as a character, I’m looking forward to reading about another part of the Disc next

The final gifts have been received and so the embargo on buying myself stuff can be lifted. Also lying on the sofa with a brute of a chest infection so some retail therapy could be just what the “doctor” ordered me to self-medicate with.

re: scrolling isometric rooms.

I took a dig into Spindizzy Worlds (Amiga). Not sure if its 25 or 50fps, but it runs OK (despite using a softscroll 😎)

The scroll fillup approach is very different, but in terms of overdraw I think it's pretty much the same as mine.

In any case, for any given 16px slice, you're going to need to look at at least ~3 screen widths worth of blocks just because of how they line up in 2D.

So I guess it just is what it is 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t mind getting an item from IKEA that has been returned and repackaged as new, but it’d be nice if they had checked that the returned materials included all parts. The instruction booklet was in two parts, one part folded, the parts packet arrived ripped open, and the parts were wrong (as compared to the booklet).

@siracusa If you are looking for a shower ready speaker that works flawlessly with Airplay, I can highly recommend the Wonderboom 2. I’ve used one in my shower for a few years. No connection issues. Turn it on and it reconnects to my iPhone immediately. Controls for volume and next track etc work flawlessly.

There is a Wonderboom 3 now, but I can’t comment on it as mine is a 2. I’d be surprised if the 3 wasn’t as good as the previous model.

@siracusa @ianRobinson pretty sure it’s not AirPlay, and is Bluetooth only. I have one (and an original Wonderboom) and it’s a PITA if you have multiple potential users. I’ll be in the middle of getting my shampoo-headed groove on when my wife walks in Bluetooth range and her phone connects. Suddenly I’m listening to her Instagram reels until she disconnects and then I’m having to reach out of the shower to fiddle with my phone.
