I heard a complaint recently that kids today don't want to get a driver's license. Good for them. Nobody should want to get a driver's license. Driving a car is something to mourn, not something to celebrate or look forward to. The ecological and human safety ramifications are disastrous.

Of course, pushing the moral cost of driving onto your parents or onto the Amazon delivery driver isn't actually improving things. But at least they're starting from the right place.

To this day, that terrible circa-2007 Yaris advergame for the Xbox 360 that got delisted almost immediately is the first thing I think of whenever I see a Yaris.

The second thing I think is that 360s that still have Yaris on their hard drive must be worth a fortune. It's that generation's P.T.!

You've seen Bandersnatch, right? If not, for context, it's about a kid in the UK in the 80s who's making a 3D maze crawl on his ZX Spectrum.

Everybody in the movie acts like the kid's a genius and I'm convinced it's because of the ceiling pipes tech. Is this supposed to be a 16k Spectrum? I feel like most of the code and most of the RAM must be dedicated to rendering these pipes.

Couple of days ago I discovered, to my delight, that I could practice piano while watching entertaining but undemanding television. (In this case, "Silo" on Apple.)

I used to watch lots of TV while drawing, back when I drew a lot. But when I got more into programming, and then writing, I had to turn off the tube; incoming language interferes with my ability to focus on writing or coding.

I have really missed having a hobby that’s right-brain enough to pass the TV test!

I can't get my xbox controller to pair with my MacBook via bluetooth. It use to be paired with this computer, now it won't pair. I've tried two controllers with the same (non) results. My mouse pairs just fine. It's going to be hard to get worked done over the next 3 weeks while I'm at my Mom's if I can't use a controller.

The King is 76" by 80" and the California King is 72" by 84". First of all, it's infuriating that there isn't a single biggest size; life is a compromise, but choosing a mattress shouldn't have to be. More importantly, they're both so close to a square aspect ratio, but neither actually hits the target.

When insert is on, whatever you type should be replaced with the text "just so you know insert is on" to help people understand what's happening

Recently I observed myself using insert. I didn't think about it, I just pressed the key in a context where it made sense, overwrote some text, then pressed it again. Then I realized what had just happened. Nobody is more upset about this than I am.
