@gsuberland Fun memories, so basically they have their own bespoke, extremely cursed patched qt, which regularly breaks super badly, especially when the system's qt version changes. I've seen a bunch pretty wild stuff from it back when I regularly used telegram.

I still do not understand phase shift keying. Like I've seen the diagrams, but it does not at all get into my head how that at all corresponds to an electrical signal

Like all of the diagrams show the signal just suddenly shifting vertically in a discontinuous way, which, in that case if you can just instantly change the voltage that fast what is the point of having fancy modulation
If you can have vertical lines why don't you just increase the frequency to infinity instead

It turns out that somehow nobody deems in necessary to mention the crucial pulse shaping part you have to do afterwards to not get horrendous spectral inefficiency and make it useful in the real world. With that everything makes a lot more sense.

I don't know if there's a term for it yet, but I propose "login fatigue" for the practice of constantly logging out your users or especially employees after short times of inactivity, thus training them to constantly enter their passwords without much thinking and making them orders of magnitude more likely to fall for phishing sites

Me, 2022: I have all these USB sticks and I can never remember what's in what. My label maker makes labels too big to fit on them, so I'll just label them with the first letter of what I put on them, and it will be easy to remember which is which later

I'm still so annoyed every time that when John Factorio decided that he needed some sort of challenge to overcome to put some urgency into the game loop, he just did the lazy video game thing of adding guns and things to shoot, it just kills the vibes of the game so much

@gsuberland Same, I just wish they had thought for more than like 30 seconds and added some other challenge instead to give you any sort of tension. Because the peaceful mode does suffer from that as a result. I don't know, food, oxygen, something tied to your success that actually fits into the bigger game and isn't just violence for the sake of it tacked onto the side

@gsuberland I don't know, I don't really buy it on multiple levels. Outside of those messages, the entirety of the game rewards and encourages it. The whole forcing you to do a bad thing and then trying to make you feel bad for it thing already feels cheap at the best of times, but they're not even really trying that. That's just not something you do if you're interested in making a game about how these things are bad, it's something you do to deflect criticism
