@obrerx @simid @actuallyautistic Teehee! So many times it happened to me, just by virtue of existing a comment is bugging me, sometimes to the point I can't function. Glad to see (it seems) I'm not alone in this. 😁

@actuallyautistic Reading Unmasking Autism at the moment and my mask is very much my special interest right now. I'm starting to think that my mask might be just broken - After decades of masking and not getting much out of it, I feel that I just can't mask anymore in 'friendly' social situations.

But I also don't feel safe being myself. This has led to a total halt of all social activities for a few years now. Anyone else have some insight or experience with this?

@doggle @nd_nb @actuallyautistic ooof... I had not heard of Unmasking Autism before. Got a couple tears out of me by page 2 of the intro.
I can already tell this is going to be a fun ride... /s

I once bought an off-brand mp3 player on ali-express. When it arrived I was delighted with the build quality, the sound— but I almost never used the thing because the software on it was so terrible.

The UI was a nightmare. It couldn’t handle audio books— it wasted my time.

I was thinking about “degrowth” and some of the obstacles to adopting this strategy to address Climate Change. It’s so easy to scare people away with thoughts of no new gadgets, no fast cars, no potato chips. 1/

@futurebird I keep tons of devices pretty much for this purpose - hack and make them better. As for you, the barrier of entry (ex. 100 hours kickoff) is the only thing keeping me from some projects.
I love the "slice at the easiest documented interface" this project uses: https://www.crowdsupply.com/oddly-specific-objects/sensor-watch , and sample code makes it friction-less.

owes three months’ rent to its Boulder landlord, and a judge has signed off on evicting the tech giant from its office there

The judge issued an order that the sheriff should assist in the eviction of Twitter within the next 49 days — i.e. before the end of July

More than 150 staff work there.

The case number is 2023CV30342 in Boulder District Court.

@toriver @paul I prefer to call it "inspiration to everyone." ;)

Announcement: I want to pay somebody for a few hours’ work to fix the CSS on my blog. [Snarky comments about how non-specialists like me used to be able to understand CSS redacted.] DM me with a pointer to your work if you’re interested.

Background:

  • No frameworks or build process or indirection voodoo, just naked static CSS please.
  • The HTML markup is reasonably semantic and can be adjusted if necessary.
  • Will probably want to blog about this work.

@timbray Obligatory meme! 😉
(Not awarding to you in particular, just the general state of CSS nowadays)

Have my comrades ever been told or conditioned not to stim? I don’t mean dangerous stims like self harm, but the more common day to day ones like fidgeting, singing, etc.

@zeolith @Phoenixrisen82 @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics but... oh so relaxing! Like... take all the stress of the week and funnel it to that leg, forget it's even doing that, and the rest of my body feels free of that tension for a while.
I guess I see how that can be a stim... 😳
And yeah, stopped doing that around 20, the day my then-love interest asked me if I was a junkie with the shakes. 😔

Wishing you a very not-flooded-data centre this Monday morning. Because reasons.

@SecurityWriter one of the rare people in the industry who can claim experience with "self-propelled firewalls". I envy you.
(Up to a point).
