Why people are so proud at introducing CSS hacks for interactivity behaviors on their website instead of writing a phew lines of JavaScript when we know that’s an accessibility nightmare.
If you prioritize some nerds who hate JavaScript over people with assisting technologies to be able to navigate the web you’re not only a dickhead to my eyes, but what you’re doing is the opposite of “ethical”
EDIT: the culprit, surprisingly, was actually Microsoft Powertoys' new "Advanced Paste" ... is that the new AI powered bullshit?
today in #wtf bugs that stumped me: if you're using #slack on windows, this might surprise you ... clicking the tray icon (if your cursor was previously in a message box) automagically pastes whatever you have in your clipboard into that message box https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahUgXP4APM8
@gamingonlinux it's ok, legal is all over this, and they say that just adding a small print disclaimer somewhere about "Google doesn't guarantee the safety or accuracy of these results" is all that's needed
That Microsoft considered protecting DRM content before protecting users in their new keylogger really shouldn’t be shocking, but somehow was. Classic capitalism.
@RobW also...is there any evidence anybody actually asked for this feature? feels like a solution looking for a problem. (also, how dare they decide that my local disk space is theirs for the taking? i don't want a constantly growing storage of screenshots eating up my HD)
I'm an agnostic, but I wouldn't bet against Paula Vennells, former Post Office CEO and Anglican priest, suddenly being struck down by a thunderbolt when she goes into the witness stand today.
@brucelawson so even the invisible sky friend only really cares about when people get caught and publicly called out. otherwise he'd have thunderbolted her at the time. what a hypocrite!
also, good job Sam Altman for disintegrating all that goodwill he received (unwarranted, in my view) when he made his damascene conversion that time warning about the "dangers of AI". clearly, it was all a bullshit facade, like most of us predicted...
