I'm going to add a comment to DROP following press entities that have ad blocker blockers and pay walls. They can damn well pay YOU to boost in the name of publicity costs. Don't give 'em free advertising.

petrescatraian,

@claralistensprechen3rd I dislike the practice of putting a paywall and an adblocker blocker, but remember that journalists do need to monetize their work. If you're skilled enough, you might pass these blocks by yourself, okay, but they need to gather money in a way or another, or else they might even lose their independence (as much or little as they have).

It's the same saying that goes like: if you're not paying for the product, then you're the product.

RSS and OPML (libranet.de)

Can somebody explain me how OPML works for RSS? Are these files usually imported into the RSS reader apps or are they used where they are? If I import multiple OPML files with multiple feeds, will the feeds from the first OPML be overwritten by those in the second one or will they add up? Will article read/unread status be...

petrescatraian,

@perishthethought I see. So the feeds from the OPML file are imported into the reader's own database, right?

petrescatraian,

@perishthethought thank you!

Bungie’s classic sci-fi shooter Marathon is now free on Steam https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/10/24153867/marathon-bungie-shooter-steam-release-date-price

petrescatraian,

@verge No Linux version on Steam tho :/

petrescatraian,

@morgant so those on the website are bundled with the Aleph One engine? Otherwise I don't get why the Linux versions are available there.

@verge

petrescatraian,

@morgant Thanks for the info! 😁

@waffle ăștia chiar nu-și învață lecția? Trebuie să ieșim mereu în stradă? sigh

petrescatraian,

Hanon ăla probabil are și el ceva schelete în dulap, altfel nu înțeleg de ce a refuzat să răspundă la întrebarea aia

petrescatraian,

@tardigrada slightly funny thing: neom in Romanian kinda translates as non-human which seems perfectly fit to the company's overall project.

petrescatraian,

@apis weird that it doesn't show. I said it is translated into n o n - h u m a n

Hope it's not blocked again in any way if I type it like this...

petrescatraian,

Probably your app, idk. On my end I see it fine on beehaw's website.

petrescatraian,

Yeah, that's what I intended to do.

petrescatraian,

I did learn about it (at school, maybe? Or I can't remember), but totally forgot it until I saw buses and trams with the European and the National flags stuck to their side mirrors.

Due to losing control of our Matrix channel, we are officially moving over to Discord for now.

It's a shame, but we can't properly moderate our Matrix, so we can no longer recommend it.

petrescatraian,

@pixelfed why don't you @joinjabber instead?

petrescatraian,

@hedge Not really a video, but the 1st pic in this article seems the best for me.

petrescatraian,

@nonfedimemes Accurate af

petrescatraian,

@Riven Probably phones without headphone jacks are those that can no longer be used as regular FM radios - as the antenna was actually the headset (at least that's my experience) - and another reason why phones without the jack suck. Never had a phone with a built-in FM antenna FWIW.

But yea, I do get your point. Phones could do so much more than accessing Facebook, Instagram and posting photos there or something like that.

petrescatraian,

@Riven Yea, it also needs the software. Here in Romania, every phone I've owned had an FM Radio app preinstalled, including the current one. Didn't try any jackless phone to see if it's there as well, and if yes, how does it work.
