Inspired by a thing I saw on Reddit earlier today, I’m going to try listening to more complete albums this year. Maybe daily? We’ll see how it shakes out.

I’m starting off with the 2019 mix of Abbey Road by The Beatles: https://songwhip.com/the-beatles/abbey-road-2019-mix

    I know I'm late to this bandwagon, but Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is the Citizen Kane of talking cat movies. That justified the past year of Netflix subscription.

    @mpirnat You're not the first to recommend it - and it popped up at the end of Puss in Boots in the "If you liked this" section. :D Just gotta make sure we get it before they take it off!

    So what type of colonizing did your family do?

    reasie,
    @reasie@wandering.shop avatar

    @BlackAzizAnansi white flight feels like colonization to me - subjugating the countryside, then returning to gentrify the neighborhoods still shell shocked by your actions.

    This weekend I was playing "Webbed". A super fun puzzle-platformer about a peacock spider trying to save her mate from a bird.

    The game is short (3-5 hrs?) with delightful movement, punchy music, and lots of neat little details and charm.

    And if you can't deal with spiders, the game has a cute accessibility mode that changes all spiders to blobs.

    Definitely worth the 700 yen.

    (blurred media: pixel-art peacock spider)

    A screenshot of the game "webbed" - a pixel art spider is in a web, above a puddle. There is a fly tied to the web, close to the spider. There is a forest in the background.
    A screenshot of the game "Webbed". Here the game is in "aracnophobia mode", where all spiders are replaced with colorful blobs. A large purple blob (the main character) is above a branch, and several white blobs (spider young in the original game, a collectible) are dangling from webs in the top of the screen. The forest background is unchanged from the previous screenshot.

    Is Moana the only Disney autocrat (king, queen, princess) we see actually doing the work of ruling?

    @xgranade @shadowsminder lol he did kiss babies and launch ships from his chair. :D

    Show empathy to all characters when you write - including villains. We do evil a favor when, as authors, we fail to portray it in all its banality and seeming kindness.

    @benjaminhollon lol
    Now I feel I owe my villains a spa day.
