Popped into The Dead Bird Site for a quick look.

It is unbelievably toxic, eh. More so than last time I was there.

Life's too short.

snaptophobic,
@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@gavin57 It does seem that way. I’m weaning myself off it, but still find I poke my head round the door once or twice a day. I regret it almost straight away.

We're off to another steam rally this morning.

We've been to a lot of Sunday outings like this, it almost feels like we are semi retired, not having to work 7 days a week!

snaptophobic,
@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@Maker_of_Things Jealous. We don’t seem to get any steam or vintage rallies round here. Then again, I’ve not looked for any. 😉

@suearcher @Maker_of_Things Best Beloved and I used to visit such shows quite a lot. Sadly, his mobility is not up to wandering round fields any more.

I’d love to visit the Great Dorset Steam Rally, but I think I’d find it utterly overwhelming!

Morning world. Even the few plans I have don’t want to work properly.

Yesterday's was MINUEND. In mathematics, the number from which another number, the subtrahend, is to be subtracted. So, there you go.

Morning world. Weekend plans. I have a few, but then again, too few to mention.

Yesterday's was NAPE, which means, of course, the back of the neck.

@TicklishHoneyBee You’d think so, but sadly not.

My fallback thought when I saw this was Lancia.

A very simple but elegant car. Not yet prettified.

snaptophobic,
@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@lionelb I believe it’s a 2000. The normal saloon.

snaptophobic,
@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@lionelb Sad, aren’t I? The 2000 has that window in the C pillar at the back, where the 1300/Toledo has a solid pillar.

I’d love a 2000 estate.

Yesterday's was AILERON. A flap hinged to the trailing edge of an aircraft wing to provide lateral control.

Tja. Kein Foto also.

If you find me or my social media moniker on those new places, it ain’t me. I am only resident on Twitter and here.

Perhaps I am big-headed enough to think someone might want to pretend to be me. I can dream. 😉

It’s annoying how many articles say that Mastodon is hard to use. I think that’s wrong. You might consider it hard to sign up, but once you do, using it is east.

snaptophobic,
@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@jmuscara I agree. I think some folk see others swapping instances, and think it’s something that has to be done. Spending a bit of time choosing a suitable instance is probably more than some want to invest in.

I left Facebook's clutches some years ago. I never had an Instagram account, and don’t WhatsApp (they’re all three in the Meta stable, aren’t they? Oddly, all my neighbours use WhatsApp to chat. I know. Weird.). I was a reluctant twitterer, but came to like the place. Anyone remember Google+? I was there, too.

What I’m trying to say is I will watch current social media proceedings with mild interest, but doubt I’ll bother jumping anywhere else until the winnowing is complete and things (1/2)

@Maker_of_Things It amused me neighbours were using it. I mean, we live next door to each other. Why use an app when you can chat over the fence like the olden days?

@druid It’s not far from here. It’s one of the (few) things I love about the area. It’s built-up, industrialised, full of motorways, but people have been living in and travelling through it for tens of thousands of years.

I don’t do gardening, for reasons. I do, however, have a space that contains stuff that grows. It needs maintenance occasionally. I’ve just invested in a cordless trimmer. Once the battery is charged I shall be dealing with rampant greenery.

The sun came out again, brush cleared, just tidying up and the rain came back. At least it’ll wash away the remains I didn’t pick up.
