Noticed a parkrun shaped hole in my feed. Hope you both are well @benjo321 & @peeteepee. 🙂

@hischeekiness @benjo321 I'm fine thanks, still walking, at parkrun and elsewhere, but not using this platform as much as I used to. In fact I seem to have reduced social media use overall. Appreciate the concern though. Happy New Year!

My 12 weekly PSA result is in and it's 0.17, up from 0.15 last time. No comment or contact from my oncologist, yet, so I'm guessing the 0.02 increase is not considered significant🤞

Just completed a strength training workout to combat my prostate cancer induced fatigue. First time choosing my own exercises (2 sets, 10 reps, 5 exercises). Found it a bit daunting; the workout was disjointed and didn't flow. Think I'll go back to doing the Prostate Scotland video I've previously used for simplicity's sake.

Well pleased with my sub-50 minute walk at this week's Nonsuch parkrun. There was a great turnout as well to celebrate the 12th anniversary and event number 550.

I recently joined an exercise programme called THRIVE run by The Exercise Clinic. I was referred to them by my oncologist at Royal Marsden to help with fatigue caused by my ongoing hormone therapy for prostate cancer. Part of the programme is to become more accountable about my exercise by logging it and reporting it. Today I went for a walk on part of the North Downs Way and the Surrey Hills.

A steep sided track falls gently downhill with bright green trees on either side and in the distance
A landscape taken from the top of a hill looking far into the distance. Fields and buildings can be seen. There is a bush on the right foreground. The sky is grey and cloudy and quite dramatic.
A route map produced by Strava showing a distance of 8.4km was walked in 1hr 38min and a total of 10,634 steps.

@hischeekiness about 30 minutes drive from home, well worth the effort though.

Detailed garden inspection reveals hebe that's struggling, don't know why, clumps of ?cat fur, strawberry plants almost dead, ditto geum, lots of dead-heading to do, lots of fat spiders and huge webs, two header-tank pond levels down by 2" and hundreds of tomatoes to pick. Oh and two dead baby rats. I think watering is priority then picking tomatoes.

@Judeet98 apart from the rats (thank goodness), that sounds a bit like my garden as well

Before it gets too hot 🥵 Now emptied the rest of the garlic bed and filled the beds we built yesterday 👍 Washed the sides of the long garlic bed and lined with lots of thick cardboard 🤓 Then took more of the lower leaves of the sprouts before sitting down for a cup of tea 🫖

Finished filling the beds we built yesterday
Sprouts with the lower leaves removed

@DavidPB lovely looking Brussels. Are the bottles for watering? I like the idea of having two (or three?) stacked to increase capacity, nice idea, which I will unashamedly steal for next year 🙂

@DavidPB yes, I meant borrowed, not steal 😉

Looking towards next season, I need some recommendations for seed supplier. I used to buy mine at Wilko's, but they're closing, so where would you recommend I switch to?

No for me this week as I was supporting the start of a new class being run at . 'Twas nice to have a 9:45 start as well, so a bit more of a lie in . Plan is to alternate Saturdays between parkrun and Nordic Walking.
On a different note, it was nice to get a warning before I set off 🚙

We didn’t do knots last night so this morning’s delivery wasn’t too late…plus long time followers of my posts will know I’ve taught myself some already.

This book is pretty comprehensive looking,& tells you when you would use them. I’ll still use AnimatedKnots website & videos,I just wanted something more.

As for the other book, some of you will recognise this already.I borrowed an earlier edition from the library & wanted my own copy. Useful for & .

@hischeekiness Reunion weekend was a permanent fixture in my diary back in the day. Living in South London it was only a short drive around the M25 for us. I used to go with a number of others from my group, probably 10-12 of us? In those days you just turned up, no need to book and we went Friday morning to Sunday evening. Saturday was the main activity day with a great camp fire in the evening.

If you get the chance to go it's a brilliant experience!

Swear I’m an inch taller after my Investiture.

The Cub Leader got the 4 Sixers to read a line or so each of my chosen variation of The Scout Promise, which I repeated back whilst doing the Scout Sign. And then I shook hands with the Cub Leader.

Very special.

And so I’m an Assistant Cub Scout Leader proper now. 😊

(One of the most outgoing Cubs came over to congratulate me. They are going to be quite the Sixer when it’s their turn. 😀 )

@hischeekiness Congratulations and welcome to the Worldwide Brotherhood of Scouts
(Maybe we are not allowed to use that phrase anymore, it was common in my day. If it causes offence, I apologise, but the sentiment remains the same)

I think I’ve been spoiled by non-iron and easy to iron clothing. And I so rarely iron shirts.

Just ironed my new Scout Uniform shirt for the first time.

Not too bad a job. Lots of room to improve, if not the end result, but the time I take to do it.

The uniform shirts are impressively well made and robust, and need to be.

Tomorrow night is it’s first outing.

Just back from a 2 hour 10km walk along part of my local river in South London, the River Wandle. The Wandle runs from Carshalton to Wandsworth where it joins the River Thames. Flowing through mostly industrial areas, it remains remarkably clean and home to lots of wildlife (which I'm never lucky enough to catch on film 🫤)

It's been a good year for the courgettes.
    And plenty of tomatoes.

Today's harvest also included raspberries, peas and potatoes.

Have found amchoor spice at local Asian shop so will be making garlic chutney with nearly all allotment grown veg.
