I know I come across as a moaning Minnie, all "woe is me, I have such a hard life". I know my situation with Best Beloved isn’t actually all that onerous. There are people out there who care for someone and have a much harder life than me.

I’m just having trouble dealing with it. It’s all happening rather too quickly, with little time to adjust. The old mental health, ropey at the best of times, is taking a proper battering. Your patience and support means a lot to me.

@snaptophobic Take care of yourself. You’re the only you you’ve got (the rest of us too!). If this outlet helps you, go for it but it’s okay if you seek out a more professional solution for you. I know that might seem like a bit of trouble to do but it might be worth it.

I feel very lucky that things I’ve learned and done over the years have helped me deal with things generally. I still have my ups and downs though.

Is it always from people like Aude? Aude will pay a big price for this, I suspect. Was it worth whatever, if anything, he was paid?

Audiophile chums: a question if I may.

Best Beloved and I listen to podcasts together. To do that, I use my phone with a Y-splitter to stereo jacks. Best Beloved is deaf, so he likes lots of volume set on the phone, while I use headphones with an inline volume control.

I want a new set of over-ear 'phones with inline volume control. It’s hard sifting out things meant for taking phone calls or controlling the phone. Any pointers, please?

Happy to clarify if I’m not clear.

@snaptophobic I don't generally recommend products by Behringer and I have no knowledge of the quality of this particular product, but something like this would allow you both to use whatever headphones you want, though 1/4” jacks (what do you call those in the UK? 😁) for both input and output. I'm sure there are lots of other options in this category of headphone amp/distribution/splitter and possibly some with 3.5 mm connections on the box.

Neat! 2250 Move Goals met. I keep my move goal around 1,000 calories so on rest days or when I’m sick I purposefully don’t meet it. It’s a nice feeling to get an award for something I do with such intentionality.

@superbetsy that’s a helluva move goal. I’m pretty active (or so I thought) as I run three times a week, walk the other four, and do some Fitness+ workouts, but my move goal is around half that. What do you do that burns so many calories? If you don’t mind me asking, that is.

After all the feedback, and a weekend of Apple Sports, I am optimistic:

  • Still missing a lot of sports. Some of these (like F1, USWNT, college) are live now, just not on the list. Some (like NFL) are said to be coming.

  • My complaint about no "where to watch" info was wrong. But that info doesn't go live until the event goes live. I hope they add it as soon as it is known, else I'll miss the start, pregame, and (for some) ability to record.

But overall, high hopes!!!

@davemark Eddy Cue seems to have said that he just wants to be able to get the scores, fast. There's clearly a desire from users to get more information like you describe, and Apple's sports info is currently spread across three apps. So it will be interesting to see how they manage keeping things simple, fast, convenient, and informative.

@snaptophobic 1. You could have included “Alphabet (née Google)” in that list
2. I only stay on FB because it's my only connection to TONS of people. It's the big positive of social media in general, being able to connect or reconnect with old friends, new friends, etc. I try to ignore the crap and when it gets too much do something else. If a friend or family member posts too much rap, I just hide their posts and remain technically connected.

As far as doing a daily thing, I find that while it can suck that it gets interrupted, the important thing is to get going again anyway. If you do the walks with the neighbor, yesterday we missed it because of rain or appointment or whatever, but today is clear and a good day for it so let’s go. As a music mentor of mine says, don’t start to practice, practice starting!

@ivory Happy Thanksgiving! Is there a known issue where iCloud sync isn’t working across all platforms? Maybe I should say scrolling. I checked Ivory on my Mac, and later checked on my iPad and it didn’t scroll to the last read toot. I think the unread count was correct and in the right spot when I scrolled to it. I hope I’m making sense.
