Seriously though, you’re not crazy. My advice is to not get emotionally invested in any of those types of interactions. If they’re being too stupid for you, just block them. You’re mental wellbeing will thank you for it.

If you’re asking this question at all, I’d say you’re probably not ready for a minimal installation without a desktop environment but it’s totally possible.
I’d recommend just going with a normal distro and installing a desktop environment from the get-go as that will be the easiest way to get Linux set up.
+1 for Fedora Silverblue (and, by extension, the other atomic desktops)! I’ve been using Kinoite for a few months now and it might be the easiest time I’ve had on a distro yet.

I’d prefer to get a VPN to avoid the risk of my internet getting shut down, but I’m not aware of what the options for Linux are. I figured this would be a good place to ask.
