Via @kechpaja, I'm learning of a proposed tram project in Turku: https://www.turku.fi/en/tramway

The projected cost is 344M€/12 km, which is sort of okay for France or Germany in the 2020s but higher than I'd expect given how low Nordic costs used to be.

Projected ridership is 22,000/day by 2030 and 43,600 by 2050; 15,636€/rider is fine for a tram these days (for a metro, it's very good).

Men när det gäller Mastodon-inlägg som bryggats till Bluesky så finns det ingen länk från Bluesky-profilen till Mastodon.

I detta betastadium så har bryggan sina begränsningar som gör att det är värt att gå till originalinlägget. Bluesky klipper av Mastodoninlägg medan Mastodon inte hanterar Blueskys bilder. Och bryggan klarar inte trådar, dvs. flera inlägg i följd, utan bryggar bara det första inlägget.

Obs! Detta är inte kritik, bara nyfikna observationer. Jag tycker att interoperabilitet är ballt.

    Är det fler än jag som har aktiverat utan att några inlägg från Mastodon har blivit replikerade till Bluesky? Min användare finns där sedan igår, men det är fortfarande tomt.

    Självklart vet jag att detta är en skakig betaversion som jag inte ska förvänta mig för mycket av. Jag är bara nyfiken på hur det funkar och om det möjligen är jag som har gjort något fel.

    @Alon Nominally there is a great majority for this law (only the Christian Democrats and the Sweden Democrats, i.e. the usual suspects, are against) but it all depends on whether the party whips in the Moderates and the Social Democrats can wield any power over the individual MP:s. The Social Democratic women's organisation have spoken against the law.

    The law passed some kind of vote today, though. 234 for, 94 against, 21 absent or abstained. (I must admit I'm not sure exactly how laws are passed. The news is presenting it as if the law is passed.)

    One Moderate and one Social democrat voted against.

    Sweden is having a very typical Swedish argument about their railways - how European do they want to be?

    Should the carriages they want to order for trains to northern Sweden and Norway be built to the larger Swedish, or the smaller European loading gauge? https://jarnvagar.nu/politiker-vill-ha-bredare-sovvagnar/

    Most night-train passengers in Sweden today travel in 6-bed couchette class. The premium option, 2-bed private sleeper with en-suite toilet/shower, exists but is more of a niche product for business travellers. In-between there is also the 3-bed shared sleeper. The proportions between couchette, 3-bed sleeper and 2-bed sleeper varies. The more tourists the more couchette cars. (Seating car is only for masochists.)

    We welcome the lifting of internal air and sea border checks.

    This is a great success for the people of both countries.

    Until the EU adopts a common migration policy that actually works (not the Dublin convention) the border controls will remain. Immigrants obviously want to go to the rich countries in the north so the rich countries in the north will do anything to stop them, including putting border controls right in the middle of a metropolitan area sabotaging the daily commutes of tens of thousands of people.

    When writing alt history, I like playing with the wank/screw dichotomy in the genre (wank = country or faction gets stronger/richer/portrayed more positively; screw = the opposite). For example, let's say Germany unifies under a Großdeutsche Lösung, is forced to democratize in 1885, avoids starting two world wars and the Holocaust... but it's so economically dominated by Junkers that it ends up a lot like real-life Italy, with a huge low-productivity traditional sector.

    Jag hängde på gamla Twitter för särintressena! Det var ju inte för intet som man brukade prata om "travtwitter", "cykeltwitter" o.s.v.
    Vi som är på Mastodon nu kanske är lite för introverta nördar för att attrahera de som bara vill tjabba lite, skriva nåt personligt och få lite bekräftelse.

    Jag kollar snöret på ren algoritm: jag följer ingen, interagerar inte. Och flödet är fyllt med selfies, politiska posörer, partister och folk som klagar på dom som klagar på något politiskt.
