I think it’s funny that Europe and much of Asia settled on the Type 2 standard for EV charging while the USA gave up and adopted Tesla’s plug.

Truly American to do things differently to the rest of the world, huh?

(Tesla even sells their cars in Europe with the Type 2 port.)

On the topic of ISPs my ISP is one of the few in the UK that does not apply the "Great Firewall of Cameron" (named after the Conservative prime minister who enacted the policy).

Essentially, all mobile operators and fixed line ISPs MUST, by default, have a content filter turned on. To "protect the children". It will block porn, gambling, and other websites, but like any filter will block things that are none of these things.

Even if you are an adult, using a mobile phone for yourself, your operator will block you from accessing a whole host of websites at the behest of the government, despite you being an adult that can make your own decisions.

If you want to turn off the content filter on your account, then you must prove that you're over 18, even though you would have had to prove so to pay for the plan.

When I switched to my current ISP, I called them up to ask if they could turn off the content filter, because I assumed they had it on. The nice fella on the other end was really confused and said "we don't apply any filtering or restrictions to your traffic, and do not participate in the national policy".

Now that's one based ISP.

I mean, it’s obviously a very nice feature, but it’s also a failure of these people to think Mastodon is the only game in town on AcPub

It is seriously incredible how The Verge, and specifically their chief editor Patel still seems to think “Mastodon” is full of nerd men who hate women.

1. Your average Mastodon instance is a safer place for women than the dick-pic-filled, misogynist hellholes of Facebook and Twitter
2. The Verge writers are clearly bitchless with L rizz because you can get plenty of female attention on the Fediverse by being pleasant and warm to them
