The Cooper's hawk dropped by at lunchtime, looking for a bird to lunch on, erm, with. It didn't find any and left straightaway.

@carpingdiem I don't think I've ever seen a Cooper's hawk with a grey back.

@urbandinosaurs This is a mature bird, so its back is gray. Juveniles are colored differently-brown and white. https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/coopers-hawk

@carpingdiem Our local Cooper's hawk does not like solar panels. All the sparrows and finches duck under the roof panels as he just hops back and forth but they escape out the other side.
