As many of you know, I have worked for @novalauncher for 8 1/2 years. When I was hired, I was done so as a contractor and remained a contractor the entire time. Then two years ago, Branch Metrics acquired Nova and while I made the transition over, I was still a contractor due to Branch not having things setup to hire full time employees in the state of North Carolina. @mdmrn Yeah, nothing job wise or anything like that changes. Just the benefits, tax stuff and a couple of other things of difference between an employee vs a contractor like you said.
Today, that has officially changed. Effective today I am finally considered a full-time employee for Branch and for Nova Launcher itself. This has been a very long time coming and something I've hoped to have happen and today is finally that day.
Job wise, nothing changes as I will still be doing the same thing(s) I've been doing for 8 1/2 years. The only things that do change are as follows. (cont...)
@cliffwade congratulations sir, this is massive news indeed. I’ve turned most of my Android friends into Nova after I began using it around the time of initial launch, and am happy to see continued support in the future!
@cliffwade I’m fortunate enough to witness your humility and engagement on mastodon, and it makes me feel even better to know I’m supporting someone such as yourself.
Being a full-time employee means I now have access to benefits starting immediately which is a huge plus in so many ways. This also means that I get to file taxes regularly instead of as a contractor doing a 1099 where I have to pay all of my own taxes. I of course get a few other benefits along the way.
This has been in the works now for a couple of months and I'm super excited that the day is here and I look forward to the future ahead with Branch and of course with Nova Launcher.
