Reckless attacks combined with great weapon master can give you a plus 16 or more to damage.
Combined with path of the bear, that's a monster right there.

@HipsterDM So I'm pretty new to playing melee... I'm not quite sure how Reckless Attack gives me a +dmg?

At least the rules as written as I understand them the GWM gives me +10 dmg

Then +2 from Str for rage, and +2 (or whatever if I upgraded) my sword.

Gives +14 dmg which is a LOT, but myself and my friend are confused as to where the other +2 comes from?

Also my himbo is a Wild Magic Barbarian (a good part of her backstory is about this).

Well, reckless attack helps you hit.
And great weapon master increases damage.
I was spitballing because I don't know your build.
My build was something like a plus 6 weapon plus the 2 from rage and the 10 for great weapon master.
Sure, your at disadvantage on hits to you, but who cares, with a path of the bear totem your half damage on all but psychic, raging.
Get a ring of psychic resistance, you're all set.
You've pretty much doubled your HP.
It's a monster build.

@HipsterDM Ahh, yeah. You phrased it in a confusing way, I thought I'd missed something about Reckless Attack.

One of my players in my Sunday morning game is a totem barbarian, very fun. But I'm enjoying wild magic a lot!

I've been rolling really well for hp, 58 at lvl 4. My gal is a wall :D
