I've moved into a place with one of these systems and it seems to have a lot of benefits. But I prefer to open a window every day and get fresh air in. Doesn't that cancel out the advantages of the heat exchange system?

These are original non-metalic cables located in our crawlspace. They're stapled to the main beams, and all look pretty warn near where the staples are....

A few years ago I purchased a fire-rated Therma Tru door. It was full of concrete and amazing at blocking noise. I moved and want one at my new house, but they don’t seem to make them any more. Their fire rated doors now have some light weight foam core....

We're planning to tear out the GOD AWFUL 1970s carpet that's covering our entire house. Allegedly there's original oak hardwood underneath....
