@manon
Not if you work alone. You always need other persons to finish the job when you're tipsy from all the beer 🤣 @satsuma And yes of course there is one waiting for me in the fridge 😏 @Kitty
Good morning friends, happy Friday Eve! The roofers showed up at 6 AM to park their dumpster. It coincided with my morning routine, so that threw me off. I was mid business when all three dogs started barking bloody murder, and it literally scared the shit out of me. 🤦🏼 It looks like they have over 2/3 of the tear off of the old shingles done! 🥳 I'll be happy when it's over.
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! The weekend can't come soon enough...
Update - We got stain grade wood panels at Lowes finally for the new cabinet's doors, and I got some backsplash panels in a tin design.
The tin style panels I painstakingly put dozens of holes into for air flow, rather like an old style pie safe, so the laundry basket in there won't get moldy.
We do have one problem - my son heard a loud CRACK in the night, and it turned out one of the wood panels split. Not sure how to fix that.
We just finished painting the living room. Adulting on a holiday weekend is great. 👍🤬 I told my wife this is blasphemy, my working on New Year's Eve's Eve.
Our stove/oven is starting to have problems. It's been repaired a couple of times in its 20 year life but it's probably time to replace it. I can't believe how expensive appliances have gotten. What if I don't need Wi-Fi and several other unnecessary things? There's not much between rental grade and bullshit level of bells and whistles.
Gotta' say I did pretty good browsing you tube on how to remove my old kitchen faucet that began gushing a waterfall last night and re-installing a new one today. Had to buy a basin wrench that rotates and it was easy after that. Yeah #me 😂 Store wanted $220 to install per their sign but I gladly took on the challenge after watching some how to vids and some how not to vids. 🍸
I have made my family promise to hold an intervention for me if I buy one more #tool as it's likely a replica of one I already bought for a single, specialized project and we all know I'm going to hire someone younger anyway.
Really? Incredibly cheap screws that fold when you try to drive them? Good thing I'm a screw-scrounge and have boxes of spares in the workshop... sheesh.
Driving screws into walls is one of my biggest fears - unreasonably so but it's there. The inability to cover up drywall damage when you get a screw wrong, the possibility of missing wood on the other side, and the 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 of possibily hitting a water line makes me get the heebie jeebies everytime I start a project.
@roygreenhilt Yep, just into drywall. Not even a drywall screw either, just like something you'd have leftover from a kids toy when you replace the battery and lose the screw.
They told us they were "handy" when we were buying the house. This led to me taking several lunches to fix/re-hang things after the second toilet paper holder fell off the wall in another bathroom.
@yngmar haha, I wish; if only because of how much a job like that costs to have done. 😁
But no, I'm doing the wood, the electrics, the network stuff and maybe some plumbing, but the plasterwork I am just not good in and since I have to look at it daily, that gets a professional's touch.
