There are parts around here where the train runs along side the highway.

No matter how bad traffic is that day I have never looked over at a Metro North train and gone "Gee.. I wish I was in there" 🤔

Going into Chicago, there are a number of freeways where the El runs in between the two directions, and it absolutely has that effect. Sitting in standstill traffic watching the fifth blue line train cruise into the Loop just makes you feel like a chump.

It works in Japan. Also you get fun situations where the Tokkaido line starts racing the Negishi line which is always a good way to pass the time

Until the driver stops for lunch and a stroll in a town the hi speed rail passes by

people like cars
and the failure of #urbanism #Train #Cycling mastodon to accept reality is kinda wierd

also, trains don't stop at a lot of places, unlike cars
