It may be months before we know the new schedule.

My take on Trump-immunity oral arguments: Trump's attorneys likely have successfully delayed the start of the J6 trial past Election Day. The justices are all over the map re private vs. public vs. criminal acts.

Now

Trump enters the courtroom and is seated at the defense table.

Photojournalists go close up in front of him, as usual, to take their photos.

"All rise."

Justice Merchan takes the bench and invites Trump's lawyer Emil Bove to put their email exchange from Wednesday on the record.

It's an evidentiary issue.

If you read my weekend blog post, you know that I've been pointing out that the predicate crime in the Trump trial is not clear.

(For what I mean, see my weekend blog post).

Here is what the Washington Post reported.

See screenshots #1 and #2.

Here is the law: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/ELN/17-152?utm_medium=email&wpisrc=nl-nationalpopup&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=wp_the_trump_trials

To be clear: I have no idea how this trial will turn out. I cannot substitute my judgment for the jury because I am not seeing what they are seeing.

@Teri_Kanefield I have no idea how the trial will turn out, either, for the same reasons plus I'm working so all I can do is read about each day's testimony after the fact. BUT: The prosecution's theory laid out in your two screenshots sounds ... plausible?

panamared27401,
@panamared27401@mstdn.social avatar

@Teri_Kanefield Fair enough. But they cite NYS Election Law 17-152. Does that not qualify in your opinion? Or am I missing something (always a possibility)? Thanks for your response!

"America's Plastic Makers" are running an ad that says, "Imagine a future" in which plastic is reused. In other words, they've been lying to us for the past 80-odd years.

panamared27401,

@Pineywoozle Plastic makers, which is to say, oil companies, have lied as much about the health/environmental damages of their product as have cigarette makers. The cigarette makers have been kinda sorta held accountable for their fraud on the public. It needs to happen for the oil industry as well.

Trump keeps recycling this “argument” again and again without ever apparently realizing he’s saying that Joe Biden could throw him into a deep dark dungeon and keep him there and Trump would have no escape.

It’s another case of: either Trump’s that dumb or he thinks all his marks are that dumb.

Among the terms the memo tells reporters to avoid: “Palestine” (“except in very rare cases”), “occupied territories” (say “Gaza, the West Bank, etc.”) and “refugee camps” (“refer to them as neighborhoods, or areas”). The memo discourages the use of the terms “genocide” (“We should…set a high bar for allowing others to use it as an accusation”) and “ethnic cleansing” (“another historically charged term”).

@FAIR Genocide has a specific meaning under international laws to which the U.S. is a party. If the jackboot fits, Israel needs to wear it. If it doesn't, then no. But either way, this is not a judgment call.
