    @raymondpert The 100+ hostages have been held for 5 months, with no Red Cross visit (agreed to by Hamas in November but they reneged), terrible conditions. The reported terms are 40 hostages, one per day over 6 more weeks & negotiate about later possible release of male soldier hostages. It's a terrible deal for the remaining 60 hostages & resolves nothing, but may be the best deal Israel can get.

    @DavidPenington @raymondpert I have a bit of an insight into this as the Thai foreign ministry played a key role initially in the negotiations. The plan was to release more, if not all hostages, then my FM contact complained that the Israelis started acting in bad faith which torpedoed the deal.

    Just a data point from a random on the internet. Take from it what you will 🙂
