@TheWarOnCars@notjustbikes And you are VERY correct about municipal elections being the most important because they truly shape how you live day to day. I live in suburb, and previous mayor campaigned on ensuring the rebuilding of a road in town would not result in the loss of a single parking space. He won but only 1 term. New guy is better but still closes bike paths in winter.
@TheWarOnCars@notjustbikes However, state/provincial and federal elections are also important because these levels of government are the ones who provide funding fo transit projects (or highways). And while they love photo ops to promise things, federal politicians will promise huge sum but only allocate tiny sums per year so they promise huge project that end up taking 50 years to get done. new Hudson tunnel will take 10 years. Original ones took 4 years from 1904 to 1908.
@TheWarOnCars@notjustbikes You totally forget that politicians have to uphold the GM Declaration Of Universal Car Rights and cannot hinder a car's ability to go anywhere it wants without having to worry about them pesky pedestrians or cyclists being in the way, (hard found battle in early 1900s), and prefererably on an intersection-free road with high speed. (or a windy road on coast with no other cars in sight, as car buyers are promised in car ads). 😉
