There are always going to be assholes like Haas around but these people need to be ignored, not capitulated to.
Not quite the same but back in the late '90s-early 2000s I worked at federally-owned national recreation area in Kentucky. The town name where we were HQ'd was Golden Pond, Kentucky; rumor was that the town got its name from all the moonshine made around there.
Without a doubt, moonshine was a huge part of the area's very colorful history.

@slcw So in our visitor's center, we had a small display discussing that history and even displayed an old still that had been found in the area.
Well, the locals didn't like that part of their history. The good Christian folk in the area wanted to rewrite history and launched a campaign to get all mention of moonshine removed from our brochures, visitor info, and of course the still display had to be removed.
Management got worn down. So of course today there is no mention of moonshine there.
Germantown, TN, USA, has been without potable water for the past week due to a diesel fuel spill in their municipal water supply.
Residents have been suffering through temps approaching 100 degrees without readily available drinking water.
But some enterprising Karen thinks she can convince a water delivery company to donate water to fill her swimming pool in exchange for feel-good TV coverage.
