Companies like Walmart shipped jobs overseas by aggressively forcing suppliers to cut costs down to what they could get from Chinese makers. It forced then to move manufacturing to China to keep the business. This gutted many rural communities and left them without good jobs. The small farming community my farm was close to had over 2 dozen small manufacturers in 1980. When I left, it was only 3.
