No point in doing a "Last Four Watched" as I only logged one flick, a rewatch of this one:

https://letterboxd.com/film/the-worlds-greatest-sinner/

If you're familiar with this at all you know that it's very much not for everyone, but this is a breathtakingly weird must see for anyone who loves outsider art or underground filmmaking.

Some have argued for this being a go-for-broke surrealist film, but my personal take is that (as with many low-budget films of this era) the surrealism is largely unintentional

For the music nerds in the house: I would be remiss if I did not point out that "World's Greatest Sinner" has an early soundtrack by Frank Zappa. He said this was the world's worst movie, but was willing to put his name on his work (unlike Edgar G. Ulmer who worked on the cinematography under a pseudonym).

In the still from the original post here, the band in the background is the Johnny Otis show (name can be seen on the drum set).

There's unfortunately no video record of a fabled exchange between Joe Pyne (talk show host) and Frank Zappa.
According to Pyne lore, he invited his audience to “Say hello to a musician—and I use that term loosely—representing a rock ’n’ roll band known as the Mothers of Invention.”
Zappa, 24, nodded to the booing crowd.
Pyne looked him over and said, “I guess your long hair makes you a woman.”
Zappa shrugged. “I guess your wooden leg makes you a table.”

Via a reddit post, I just discovered a site called Life On The Road, which is a deep dive into every live recording of Frank Zappa (currently through 1977).

https://zappalifeontheroad.com/

Like many of you, I have been missing the old web, full of niche sites built out slowly by one or two experts on some nerdy topic. This Zappa site reminds me of what we used to find online back in the late '90s (albeit with a modern look).
