Linux_Is_Best,

Do want to upgrade to Android 14, right now?

Are you using a Google Pixel?

If you answered, yes, to both questions, I have the solution for you if you have not yet received the update over the air or Wi-Fi.

This work best if you are using Linux. You will also want to back up your data, because for best results, you will be wiping your phone and, no, you do not need OEM to be unlocked (mine is not, and it works).

Linux_Is_Best,

You should already have ADB installed. Again, Linux works best.

Step 1 - Back up your data

Step 2 - Go to "Setting", go "System", go to "Rest Options", and select "Erase all data (factor rest)"

Step 3 - Upon reboot, rapidly skip all the setup settings.

Do not connect to Wi-Fi.

Step 4 - Quickly disable your mobile internet.

You do not want Google Play Store and alike suddenly downloading app updates.

Step 5 - Go to "Settings", go to "System", go to "About phone", scroll to the end and rapidly tap on "Build number"

This will enable developer mode.

Step 6 - Go to "Settings", go to "System", go to "Developer Options" and scroll down and enable "USB debugging"

Step 7 - You're going to follow the rest of Google's instructions (see URL), but you MUST verify the SHA-256 Checksum. Don't skip.

Congratulations

Linux_Is_Best,

In America, be mindful that there are 3 zips and you only need 1

1 is for Verizon, Verizon MVNOs

1 is for Japan

1 is for everyone else.

Use the correct zip. -- For myself, being in North America, and not a Verizon customer or on a provider who uses their services (I'm on T-Mobile), I used the one for everyone else

You also want an uninterrupted power supply when you update. It is best that your phone is fully charged and best that you know your PC will remain on when transferring the file

@Linux_Is_Best I feel like there's an easier way to upgrade a Google Pixel device to Android 14

Linux_Is_Best,

@tkk13909

Sure, you can wait for the over the air update. For some that was today and for others, it will be longer. Some providers wait a few weeks more, even.

You can also, technically, skip wiping the phone and attempt an in-place update. But for a faster update, and to ensure you don't have any random issues (usually 3rd party apps), I find it best to perform a clean, fresh installation between major versions (for example, v13 to v14)

I was on the Beta, still waiting on T-Mobile.

Oddly, Google, forwards many of their Beta Testers to use Reddit (of all places) and there is a thread filled with people who are still stuck waiting for the final version (which was released, yesterday).

T-Mobile will likely keep them waiting for more than a while. I recall nearly a little over a month before they pushed out v13, upgrading from v12.

Performing this manually, skipped all that.
