Methinks that sometime in the next week or I'll be migrating this Mastodon account back to Newsie and stand up a Bluesky PDS for the Honeytree.social domain.
Increasingly more of my law/news/tech tribe are on #bluesky
@jeff Honestly I'm extremely frustrated with the small but vocal isolationist faction of Mastodon users. I really want to home base here and reach out to the other platforms, but every time someone wants to bridge or federate the pitchforks and torches come out.
I still don't like AT's federation model so I don't see myself going in that direction, but if this keeps up....
@jeff@ralf It's very hard for me to cede ownership of my timeline though, even if it's an "independent" PDS. I can run a Mastodon instance completely standalone if I wanted to, but a BlueSky PDS still requires the mothership. The idea was to decentralize, be independent islands talking to each other. Blue sky feels like a club where your allowed to have your own table.
