Gourmet coffee made me drastically reduce my caffeine intake

I used to be a bit of a caffeine fiend (up to 10 cups a day at times), up until I found this nice roastery in town. I started trying freshly roasted beans of different origins. Shit's so good, so good in fact that the usual stuff I've been drinking now tastes like crap. I can't drink it anymore, it gives me no pleasure.

Problem is, gourmet coffee is kind of expensive and I can't drink 10 cups a day without going bankrupt. So now I only drink 2 cups at most. And since my sleep quality has drastically improved, I don't feel like I need more coffee than that.

Gxost,

Delicious and healthy. That's perfect.

Moonguide,

Man, same! I’m from a coffee producing country, and all throughout college I drank coffee just because I needed the kick. Used to have gas station coffee and a smoke before class every morning. One day I noticed we had a moka pot in our cupboard and decided to try it. After years of just horrid overbrewed espresso and burnt stovetop brewer coffee I found a taste for it.

Now I’ve got a full station for an export quality batch of beans I get every month. I can tolerate two coffee shops in town out of hundreds, and any coffee, no matter the place or pricetag, I’m reticent to try.

But I’ll be honest, the worst coffee I’ve ever had has been in the states. Overbrewed and stale. Had a sip and wanted to throw up.

What kind of coffee do you normally get now?

pejosnic,

I'm in love with light roasted Yirgacheffe for the moment, but I'll try whatever my local roastery is selling.

A light roasted Yirgacheffe is exactly what gave me my first "wow" moment with specialty coffee.
