Building a new bike since I don't enjoy riding my old one anymore (bad roads with a track geometry & thin tyres results in a very uncomfortable ride).

Exciting times ahead!!

I'm going to build my own wheels!
No idea were to start from but I bet there is a book on the matter out there..

@evangelos There certainly is, and Roger Musson wrote it 🙂

@twobiscuits @evangelos I've built about 4 wheels and repaired a couple of others with Roger's advice. The book is worth the money, IMO: https://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php

@jamesgbradbury @evangelos I haven't done any yet but the book makes clear he knows his stuff. I think it's saved me from thinking the fanciest truing stand etc. is needed. that if money is to be invested, it should be in a jig for calibrating your tensiometer (which can be a cheap one) on the actual spokes you're using.

& the general reassurance that a wheel has a zone in which it will be happy & resilient, & you can see when it's there, rather than obsessing about numbers.
