Emacs

TheTuzu,

This toot was made from :emacs:.

Anoncheg,

I solved error in Info in :
user-error: No such node or anchor: Positions
the cause is unknown but after extractig bz2 file error disapeared.

Here is steps:

  1. cd /usr/share/info/emacs-28/
  2. sudo bzip -d elisp.info.bz2

I tried with Emacs, it is Linux distribution of modified
packages for under GPLv3. It perfectly easy to install from
F-Droid. It works great with Org mode and with Unexpected
app ⌨. But still it less comfortable than a real keyboard. And of
course it suffer from privacy (and security 🔒) as full
of closed source code. ◕‿◕

Here is diagram that I created with Emacs Artist mode for my being recently
writen "redshift" script-app.

markhepburn,

Random TIL: If you're using yasnippet, you can add a .yas-parents file to a mode directory to inherit the snippets from the mode defined in that file.

Handy when for eg python-ts-mode won't otherwise use the snippets from python-mode.

alexkehayias,

With the API shutting down, are there viable alternatives for ? I needs to do grammar and not just spell check or linting. I also want to integrate via LSP if possible.

susam,

Mastering Emacs book club meetup is now live. The meetup begins at 10:00 UTC (i.e., in 10 minutes).

Today we'll discuss how to save keyboard macros as commands and as key bindings, how to call other macros from a new macro, and how to make flexible macros that involve prompts (minibuffers etc.).

Visit https://susam.net/meet/ to join the meetup!

Today I found out that you can use nix-shell in Org babel blocks to provide whatever dependencies you need.

Example with sqlite:
#+begin_src sh :shebang "#!/usr/bin/env nix-shell"
#! nix-shell -i bash -p sqlite
sqlite3 --help 2>&1
#+end_src

Build your own with ... as a split frame, where every window has a buffer with one of 's timelines, tags etc. Leveraging Emacs' abilty to further split w a window hichever way one might prefer. I set this as a seperate tab, to which I can switch when I need to.

Drafting and researching in emacs, while tooting or searching from the same UI, is incredibly efficient. The second screenshot shows 's built-in lookup service used to search the thing-at-point/selection from within a mastodonel buffer, as I would from any buffer.

: dired-preview version 0.1.0 https://protesilaos.com/codelog/2023-07-08-emacs-dired-preview-0-1-0/

Dired doesn't expose any hooks that could be useful, but this implementation is already pretty great!

Considering porting some of my config over to my Home Manager config, or at least detect whether it's installed on and if not falling back to use-package. Anecdotally is anyone else doing this and can provide some insight? :)

Why would 'emacs-filesystem' be needed by cloudflare-warp?

Sure, the joke goes is an OS by itself, but in this case?

Curious how to get started contributing to Emacs? Colin Woodbury has written a helpful blog post on just that topic, including instructions for copyright assignment: https://u.fsf.org/3fr
