@losttourist Friendica has group forums built in which is accessible via the many protocols it supports not just Activity Pub.

@shelenn @losttourist you can use #lemmy for this if you want to. Any community on lemmy (which are similar to sub-Reddit) functions much like a group.

@jupiter_rowland I just hope diaspora would join ActivityPub. diaspora had their own protocol before.

@Ahri Boy 💙💛:blobhajtransprideheart: Won't happen. Diaspora* will never introduce a connector for anything else, much less replace their own unique protocol which it has been based on for 13 years with ActivityPub entirely.

Diaspora* has never wanted to federate with anything else. The federation with Friendica is Friendica's doing, and it involved reverse-engineering Diaspora* and even cracking its encryption. Diaspora* didn't even help. It was like Friendica drilling a hole into Diaspora*'s case and soldering wires onto Diaspora*'s circuit boards due to a lack of compatible connectors.

Hubzilla is federated with Diaspora* because it inherited the same federation code when it was forked in 2012.
