What are the questions you see or get asked the most about ?

Gathering questions for a fountain pen FAQ on the @penfount website

@paradoxmo @penfount When I've told friends about liking and using fountain pens, the impression I get is that they think it's fussy or labor-intensive to use them. A post talking through different basic ways to ink and use fountain pens could be beneficial to put curious potential users at ease. At the very basic level, one could just use cartridges. At the next level, they could find an easy-filling pen and inexpensive ink. Etc...

@jezlyn interesting idea, I’m bookmarking it and will add it to the “post ideas” list

Mainly questions related to ink, e.g.

  • How can I fill a fountain pen without getting ink everywhere?
  • Are they safe to carry around or will they leak on my bag, clothes, etc.?
  • Are they suitable for everyday use, if the ink isn't waterproof?

@paradoxmo @TG_Esq I'm not sure it's physically possible 🤣

here’s what I can think of off top of my head

  • what ink do I get? (Cartridges / bottle, don’t get India ink, etc)
  • how do converters work?
  • just inked and my pen doesn’t work, what do I do?
  • how to clean pen before first use
  • what’s the best cheap pen? (Could be a whole post onto itself)
  • good paper choices (notebooks, printer paper, cheap drugstore paper)
  • can lefties use fountain pens?
  • how do I decide which nib width to get?

@paradoxmo how to clean ink off your hands and work area because inkcidents can happen at any time.
