Big delivery of from China today! From R-L: Majohn P139 with a big, fat #8 nib & ebonite feed; Tramol National(?) with a Jowo nib; Admok M800 with a Schmidt nib; Majohn A1; Jinhao Dadao 9013; a bonus Hero 58 thrown in for free with the Tramol; and a funky ink syringe. All with fine nibs, which I hadn't realised I'd done but am completely okay with, especially on the A1!

@paradoxmo I always forget the Realo exists. The Tramol seems pretty decent. It’s a bit bigger than a standard Pro Gear, but some parts are interchangeable. The PG cap will fit on the Tramol body, although you can’t screw it all the way down because of the larger nib, but the Tramol’s won’t fit on the PG, and the sections can be swapped, but the std int converter is too long to fit in the PG body. The plastic seems to be pretty decent quality, too.

Picked up a couple of cheap #FountainPens on eBay over the past week, one of which is this Pierre Cardin ballpoint & fountain pen set. They were marked as oversized, but I hadn't realised just how huge they were! It's only a fraction smaller than the gargantuan Kanwrite Mammoth, with a roughly #8½ sized steel nib. It writes okay, but it's very dry. With a bit of tuning it should be quite nice. No idea what model these are. I couldn't find anything resembling these in my searches.

Late post as I couldn't stay awake last night 😴 After the success of their 3-month ink subscription, @cultpens have started up a new continuous version. There were a total of 9 inks in the May box, although the 4 Endless inks were only 1ml samples. I actually kinda love the premise of the Endless set, as it let's you get a decent taste of all their inks. The itty-bitty ColorVerse bottle is adoreable! It also came with another Cult × Endless ink swatch book.

@paradoxmo It's really nice! Probably my favourite of the bunch, but I haven't done the writing part of the swatches yet so I don't know for sure how the others will look while in use. I don't have Yama-Budo, so I may well buy a full bottle of this once its been used up.

Boy, am I glad Vinta wrap their ink bottles with film! My bottle of Tequila Sunrise from @cultpens leaked, but thankfully the film kept it from being a complete disaster, so only a little bit was lost.

@penfount I've mentioned it a couple of times on here, but don't place a terribly imbalanced cardboard box full of glass ink bottles precariously on a shelf so that it almost instantly falls off & smashes on the ground, horribly staining the carpet (& probably the floorboards, too). Then when you use a carpet cleaner on it, don't accidentally spill the inky waste water on the wool hallway carpet because it will NEVER EVER COME OUT!!!

Recently I started to travel a lot again and I don't really have motivation and time for drawing practice.

Today though I managed to get some:
This time I was experimenting with quick sketch. Instead of really looking at proportions between shapes I started with one shape and based whole drawing on circles with specific ratios.

That's why the nose it too big :bongoCat: It's easy to get lost when you loose reference and try to go faster with

@grayrattus Some pens are better than others when it comes to drying out. I've had some dry out in a matter of days, while others have been fine after a few years. I'd highly recommend pretty much any of the Platinum range. They have what they call a "Slip & Seal" cap, which allows you to leave the pen untouched for up to a year (sometimes more) without it drying out.

@penfount I think the Parker Jotter was a good first pen for me, as it was easy to get ink for it since Parker was so ubiquitous in newsagents & stationers. Plus, it being able to write reversed gave it some nice utility. My first bottled ink I wouldn't choose again. I got Waterman Intense Black, but there's nothing intense about it. I wanted a black black, and it ain't it, chief. My next inks were Diamine Blaze Orange & Shimmering Seas, and I've never had to use a boring ink since.

@penfount My ultimate grail is the Nakaya Whale & Wave (https://nakaya.org/en/review.aspx?id=29&type=body), but at $10,000 it will never, ever, EVER happen. Mid-range but still permanently out of reach grail would be the Taccia Miyabi Empress Winter Breath (https://yosekastationery.com/products/taccia-miyabi-empress-fountain-pen-winter-breath?_pos=40&_sid=1d2ef64cc&_ss=r). My current (somewhat) realistic grail is the Pilot 843 with the FA nib, but I'm more likely going to go with the 743 instead. Incredibly boring compared to the other 2, but my bank account is incredibly boring, too.

Tangentially related to — I was watching the latest Jet Pens video (https://youtu.be/iMus9pyICXU?t=269) & it mentioned the Sakura Writoll dual-knock pencil. It reminded me of my old Pentel Technica-X PW45 from the early-mid 2000's that also has a dual knock. It was a great pencil for carrying in my pocket at work since it would never stab me when I sat down. What other dual knock mechanical pencils are out there? Why don't we see more of these?

#SwatchWednesday time! My BlueBlack exclusive Colorverse inks arrived yesterday! So happy to finally have a bottle of Goryeo Celadon 🥰 I used it in a Homo Sapiens for a few weeks last year & have been itching to pick it up since. Also got the 2nd set of samples I won on the @penaddict stream (thanks again, Brad!) swatched. That's me completely up to date now. I'll need to start thinking about what I want my 200th ink to be. It needs to be something special. Any suggestions?

@penfount Dad doesn't care much about them but was happy to pass on his old ones from school & Uni, mum thinks I spend too much on them (true) but she's got more & more into them herself. Most friends find it interesting, but only a couple actually use them.

New (yester)Day! 2 brands that I've never tried before: KWZ & 3 Oysters, plus a couple of Sailors. I didn't realise KWZ Honey smelled so good! Not of honey, though. Kind of a sweet vanilla scent. Way better than the strong chemical smell of the Sailor inks 🤣 Is this common with KWZ inks, or is Honey a one-off?

Saw this quick review by MarcyMe of this year’s SE Pelikan Edelstein ink, Golden Lapis, seems to be same gold shimmer as in the Golden Beryl but with a blue base color.

Got my first-ever ink today. Thought having at least one of their hourglass shaped bottles would be a nice addition to the collection. Read the image description for more details on the bottle and it's function.
This ink is named​ "Shocking Blue (#5)", after the Dutch rock band of the same name, which had a few hits, including "Venus". Also a first getting an ink named after a music group, so it added to the appeal. It is a nice deep blue with some red sheen.
