Seems to me the fear of overloading one instance over another will not happen after all....

It feels like people are a lot nicer here than on Twitter and Reddit, and even when people disagree, it’s generally civil and not an all-out flame war. Also, there’s no algorithm promoting outrage all the time....

Something that i find prettyd disgusting these days is how certain people put their political ideologies / viewpoints over human lives, for example, celebrating the russian invasion of ukraine because it is “a blow against US / NATO imperialism” completely ignoring all the warcrimes, the deaths, and the suffering generated...

I guess it is a consequence of the Reddit migration where the habit is just keeping the old community name. But having C/Politics being US only on Lemmy.world, an instance that aims to be international (hence the name), seems weird to me....

After years of reddit/twitter/facebook propping up fascism/bigotry with algorithms & bots I'm honestly surprised and relieved to be in an online space that clearly rejects their ideology....

Ok, imagine this, you are on reddit (say, a slow hobby focused subreddit), everybody there is nice and knowledgeable, and one day, the mods there announced that since there is not enough "content" on the sub, they are going to use a bot to repost content from 9gag in order to "bolster engagement" and "grow the community"....

There’s clearly a lean to the left side of things in Lemmy instances, with many people attacking people at the right....

@LMAO is flooding the site with random communities because they’re salty about being banned for claiming too many community names. They claim they’re trying to “fuck your entire site up” but I imagine it’s a relatively quick fix to delete all the communities they’re creating, LMAO.

The !android community on this instance thrived for a while and reached almost 19k subscribers very rapidly and it was very active....

I’m cleaning out my gmail folders this weekend, and went deep into the archive to 2011, when I got my invite to Google Music....

This only makes sense when I realize that to conservatives, it’s an identity. They think it’s an identity that Taylor Swift should have because she’s (presumably) white, popular, rich, good looking, Midwestern, Christian, etc....

After the ban of the c/christians community for having a rule against LGBTQ+ content. I wonder where is the actual line of what is allowed and what is not on this instance. (lemmy.world/post/1762563)...

I've been on Lemmy for 12 days apparently, feels like a lifetime! And I keep seeing posts about how it's too empty or there's no content outside of the Reddit drama or whatever....
