📷 Looking at the picture this morning, I remembered the radically-#queer piece by #DavidWojnarowicz, "Untitled (One Day This Kid...)," 1990.
That's David as a kid in the center, "protected" by his scathing prosecution of the official forces arrayed against queer people in the US.

I don't know why they hate us. I mean, I know why because I'm cursed but like, I don't know why.
The desire to love and be loved is strong and visceral and raw and base. We all have it, even the creatures that rebel against emotion and convince themselves they are somehow healthy and we are sick.

I don’t know why, either. And of course I do know, but I don’t know why or how I escaped, or overcame learning to hate. I wish I did know that, because then maybe I could teach what I did learn, despite where and how I grew up.

I don't know how to teach someone not to be hateful. Best I can hope for is that the haters keep it to themselves. If they don't get rid of their hate, they'll be lonely, angry people.
