Barred from entering Germany. Upon arrival in Berlin, Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah was told he could go no further nor join the conference where he was to present his evidence of genocide in Gaza. He was only given back his passport as he boarded his flight back to UK.

Herons flying and landing are spectacular. Also a good bird to practice birds in flight as they are big and slow (compared to other birds)

This was a cool moment. Sat watching the birds at Summer Leys this afternoon when a Buzzard meandered over the marshes. I'm not sure it was of any threat, but the Lapwing was having none of it. Up it shot and chased the Buzzard off the marshes.

Another after work walk and as is often the case, I see the same birds...Herons and Willow Warblers (and a few others)

This warbler is in mid song

: "More sinister is the sense that Freedman describes: “It’s hard not to think that a culture war is being evoked against you simply for trying to think independently and critically.” Science minister Michelle Donelan’s recent shameful attack on two academics, reporting them to UKRI (the national research-funding body) for extremism and blighting their lives over an accusation that was wholly without foundation, springs to mind – but then so does almost everything Donelan and education secretary Gillian Keegan say about the sector in general, and humanities in particular. All those references to “woke ideology”, “intolerant woke bullies” and “cancel culture” are increasingly accompanied by defunding of the humanities, using increased accessibility to education as a fig leaf, as Keegan announced last week.

“Your subjects are mocked and called low value,” Freedman says. “Arts, humanities and social sciences haven’t played the instrumentalist game, so they’re seen as easy targets by tabloids, by GB News. We would laugh it off, but this is a huge asset to the British economy.” More importantly, he continues, “it’s not just a tragedy – it’s almost like a crime to shrink those spaces that provide a home for the inquisitive, the experimental. If the space disappears, it’s very hard to recreate it.”" https://www.theguardian.com/education/2024/apr/11/the-goldsmiths-crisis-how-cuts-and-culture-wars-sent-universities-into-a-death-spiral

My friends Hedgy and Hazel this evening. These two have been working non-stop feeding their 5 chicks for almost 2 weeks. Today, the largest chick almost left the nest - it probably will leave it for good tomorrow. In .

What's missing in this article is how so many are still using stereotypes dating back to (when the UK was under rationing), and how social media just reaffirms these and other prejudices.

That and the fact that they're spitting in the faces of a Chinese British community that needs no lectures from ignorant little twats on TikTok.

A laser capable of shooting down enemy drones and missiles will be on Royal Navy warships by 2027 amid the growing threat of conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

The £10 a shot DragonFire weapon could be used even sooner in Ukraine, as the military fast-tracks the “cutting-edge” technology.

#EU & #UK: New "action plan" on migrant smuggling offers no insight into or intention to address causes

Instead, the aim is only to control migration flows both into and within the EU by enhancing police cooperation with more surveillance & arrests

For example, one of the 8 goals lists "harm reduction" as the intent, yet the activity under this heading only works to increase the aerial surveillance of #Frontex

See an overview of these goals & the original plan here:
