@metin very good restoration. the skin gets that airbrushed "AI look" though. it mostly stays faithful to the details, but the upper lip seems like it's been narrowed and placed lower. but it's remakable nevertheless :)

@ponpon Thanks! Yeah, it's a bit too filtered and beautified, but it's flattering for my mother-in-law, so I'm OK with it. 🙂

@metin I can’t say I like the result - it made her face look like plastic. All the small irregularities like birthmarks are gone.

@BartV Yeah, that's the drawback of denoising and other procedures. The original image is filled with artifacts. You can't say "Leave the authentic marks intact" when using a denoiser. They're not that clever. 🙂

That said, the original photo is made with a flashlight, so the "plastic" gloss is also in the original. You can see that on the cheeks left and right of the nose.

@metin @BartV Maybe you could add noise/grain back? I think it would be a good compromise. I've done this to upscaled images and prefer how it looks.

@vl_tone @metin @BartV I think adding back some of the grain is a good idea. I would also darken the birthmarks (some of them are still there, e.g. on her right cheek) and add back the moles manually (e.g. on her neck). Then you will certainly be her favourite son-in-law forever 😁
