I've been exploring the fediverse and subbing and posting all over the damn place. Realizing lemmy can federate with kbin blew my mind. Not to mention the possibility of turning my old laptop into a personal server to host my own instance. Is this what it felt like to discover how the internet worked in the 90s?

As we see more and more bots on Lemmy World every day, it’s about time we publish a set of rules for bots and bot-owners....
Lately we have been dealing with a few abusive members from Feddit.nl and we were unable to get in touch with the instance administrator....
If the performance weakness continues for a week or two, the agency would start recommending decreasing spend with Reddit or directing it to other platforms....
We can make this a great interesting place and more people will join
I honestly do not mind it one but. I quite like the interface. It’s minimal but there are some bugs to it which is to be expected. I really do like the overall design of it though. There isn’t too much going on. It’s like old Reddit which I am a big fan of

Almost! At the time of this post, lemmy.world has a whopping 25733 users and is growing fast....
I loved Reddit for what it is, but nothing made me back out of a post faster than seeing the top 3 parent threads as a regurgitation of the same inside jokes, pun-chains, and so on.
I think this decentralization and federation is what web3 is all about, without all the corporations calling everything to do with monkey pixel art that costs a million dollars "web3"
