I finally decided for a new daily driver laptop. I wanted something from a small manufacturer focused on . Looked at devices from , , , . At the end I decided for the Pulse 14 from @tuxedocomputers. It looks almost perfect for me. The only downside is that they don‘t ship with US-ANSI keyboards. I‘m afraid this will annoy me the first few week… Anyways, looking forward for the device to arrive in order to install .

@britter I'm not sure I'd use #NixOS. While the idea is nice, in practice it's similar to flatpak, consuming a LOT of disk space.

@melix @britter It is absolutely possible to have a nix install consume endless amounts of disk space. But if you're interested in trying it out, I would suggest configuring for less storage consumption - that is generally a lot nicer to deal with.

@britter @tuxedocomputers I hope you have the experience you expected. Who knows, maybe you'll install Ubuntu.😜

@penguingeek @tuxedocomputers I‘m pretty happy with my setup, so I don‘t see why I would switch to 🤔 I guess would be an alternative.

@britter @tuxedocomputers After the last backdoor incident, we saw that unstable distributions were immediately affected by such events. Of course, use whatever you want. It's just a suggestion of mine.

@penguingeek @britter @tuxedocomputers Thankfully NixOS defaults to a stable branch. You can opt for various degrees of instability, with all that entails - such as earlier exposure to upstream updates & compromise. Sticking with the defaults tend to be safer, but you can ofc. do what you want. :)

@AngryAnt Thanks for your sarcastic approach. But you didn't understand what you read. I didn't make any statements about NixOS. "I hope you have the experience you expected." I did not attack the NixOS operating system.

I didn't say that NixOS was unstable, I actually tried to state that the Ubuntu LTS version was more stable.

Fanaticism is harmful!

@penguingeek I'm sorry that you chose to read my message that way. Have a great day regardless.
