@pfefferle I fear the answer is "No", but...

Is there any way to make a instance forget about posts from a Wordpress blog running your plugin, if those posts are already deleted on the blog?

Apparently, when I tested some months ago, deletes weren't propagated properly, and now all those test posts linger on the instance of the account I followed my blog with. I wouldn't want actual blog followers to see the posts later.

Alternatively, does anyone know the timeframe for Mastodon instances to remove posts from their cache after an account is no longer followed by anyone on the instance?

Since I am the only one currently following the other account, I could unfollow and wait - is that even a thing?

@feditips, do you have an idea?

@bocops @feditips Have you tried using automatic post deletion? Mastodon has this so not sure if you can do this otherwise.

@adamsdesk The posts in question aren't strictly Mastodon posts, but part of a Wordpress blog that publishes via an Activity Pub plugin to Mastodon (and other platforms).

Because I've already deleted them on the blog, I can't repeat this - and I have no way of "logging in to Mastodon" as the post author to get them deleted any other way.

Whatever happens would have to happen either via Wordpress, or by some cache maintenance mechanism of the Mastodon instance, if such exists.

@bocops @feditips Oh okay, well this seems strange to me. In order to use ActivityPub plugin doesn't it require an account?

@adamsdesk @bocops

No, the ActivityPub plugin turns the blog itself into its own Fediverse server and creates its own accounts (that's why the account address has the blog's domain name in it).

@feditips @bocops Oh okay. Thanks for the explanation.

@bocops

I think the cache is set by the admin so it will vary, but if there is a particular server you're concerned about you can ask its admin to purge the contents for particular accounts (such as your blog).
