In August, Norge started fining Meta daily for GDPR violations. Instead of complying, Meta decided it was more profitable to pay the fine.

So the European Data Protection Board just expanded the ruling to all of the EU and issued a permanent ban on Meta’s use of behavioral advertising. It does not even get a chance to have users opt in. This is wild.

Meta now risks fines up to 4% of its global turnover.

@Jeremiah if its business model doesn't work at all without behavioural advertising, then they might decide that 4% of turnover is a price worth paying for access to such a large market.
